- France and England remain favorites to win Euro 2024 at online betting sites.
- Euro 2024 host Germany opened as favorites to win in January 2023, but France and England overtook the German national team in betting markets this past spring.
- Despite a tough draw in Group D, France’s Euro 2024 odds were not impacted by the announcement.
According to the latest UEFA Euro 2024 odds at BetUS, France and England share the same odds of capturing European glory at UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.
With the tournament scheduled to open in June 2024, online betting sites are beginning to witness an influx of action on Euro 2024. That being said, bettors remain undecided on who should be the odds-on favorite.
At +350, France and England are co-favorites to win Euro 2024. The latest update from oddsmakers, at BetUS, suggests that France and England have an implied probability to win of 22.2 percent.
Following Les Bleus and The Three Lions, Germany has the third-best odds, at +600. Despite opening as the favorite and host club, the Germans’ odds have slid from +525 to +600.
While France and England’s odds were improving considerably through the spring of 2023, Germany was tanking. Currently, Germany has an implied probability of just 14.3 percent to win Euro 2024.
Germany Fires Hansi Flick Fired After Loss To Japan
The instability in the German program impacted the club’s Euro 2024 odds through 2023 and into 2024. Following major disappointment in friendlies, Hansi Flick was fired from his post as manager of the German national team.
Going five straight matches without a win from March to September, the decision was made that Flick had to move on. The results weren’t there for the 58-year-old, and there was growing pressure in Germany to relieve Flick of his duties with Euro 2024 approaching.
On September 9, the final straw was reached in an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Japan. In September, Germany hired former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann to take over the stumbling national team.
“The target is next summer and the Euros, that is a great challenge for me,” said Nagelsmann in his first press conference as coach.
Since then, it has been a see-saw of results for the Germans. Following the loss to Japan, Germany responded with a 2-1 victory over France. However, recent losses to Turkey, 3-2, and Austria, 2-0, have killed any confidence that they had.
Germany will not play another match until their Euro 2024 opener against Scotland.
France Draws Tough Group
With Austria and the Netherlands joining France, there are no guarantees in Group D.
The Dutch squad is always a wild card in international competition that brings their best game. Currently, at +1600, the Netherlands is tied with Italy and Belgium for the fifth-best odds to win the tournament.
If France brings their best form, they should be in fine shape. However, this is not a sure-fire spot for France to finish atop Group D. On October 13, the Netherlands played France tough in a 2-1 win for Les Bleus. Superstar forward Kylian Mbappé was responsible for both goals
Meanwhile, Austria could be one of the most dangerous longshot squads at Euro 2024. At +8000, Austria has just a 1.2 percent chance of winning. That being said, they’ve been holding their own and competitive in friendlies.
The Austrians are on a three-match win streak, including a 2-0 victory over Germany in November. They could give France an unexpected challenge if all things go right for Ralf Rangnick’s squad. As of January 2024, France has -175 odds to win Group D.
England Expected To Cruise, While Italy Struggles in Group Stage
Despite not getting the easiest draw, France does avoid the gauntlet that is Group B. Spain, Croatia, and Italy will battle it out in a highly competitive Group Stage quartet.
Euro 2020 champion Italy has an uphill challenge ahead of them in their quest to repeat and defend their title. Along with questions regarding their fitness and talent, they didn’t get a generous draw.
Co-favorite England, however, should make it through to the Knockout Stage without major difficulties. England will be featured alongside Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia.
At -250, England has a strong implied probability of 71.4 percent to win Group C. Denmark figures to be their only challenger. Only Belgium, at -300, has a higher likelihood than England of winning their Group at Euro 2024.
