The Los Angeles Lakers made news when they drafted LeBron James’ son, Bronny, in the 2024 NBA draft. Even though it didn’t appear as Bronny was ready, he made the opening-day squad and got on the floor with his father.

But the Lakers haven’t played ­Bronny much, so he’s headed to their G League squad in South Bay, and will play their home games in El Segundo.

Bronny Has Played in Four of Eight Games, and 13 minutes in Total

Bronny and LeBron James became the first father-son duo to play in an NBA regular-season game when Bronny checked in late in the Lakers’ 110-103 win over Minnesota in their 2024-2025 debut. The younger James played three minutes in that game, going 0-for-2 from the field with one rebound.

Since then, Bronny has played twice, for five minutes in a 134-110 loss in Cleveland, and he scored his first NBA points in a city that is very close to where he was born, which is Akron. He also played the last minute of a blowout win over Toronto. The 20-year-old then played five scoreless minutes in a 131-114 loss in Memphis, and the decision was made to send Bronny to the G League, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Charania says that this was the plan all along for Bronny, according to Lakers’ coach JJ Redick. Bronny is also going to only play in South Bay’s home games, and he’ll debut for the team on Saturday. He will still be on the Lakers’ roster when they host Philadelphia on Friday night. So, don’t expect to see Bronny in your NBA player props going forward. He won’t be a part of any first-basket scored bets in the NBA.

Bronny’s NBA Rookie of the Year odds were getting a lot of betting action ahead of the season, and he’s still on the board at many NBA betting sites. How Will This Affect the Lakers?

The Lakers have bigger problems to deal with as they’re 4-4 ahead of the Philly game on Friday. Anthony Davis has been terrific to start the season, averaging 32.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks. However, Davis missed the loss against Memphis with a heel injury, and that meant LeBron James had to play 35 points and scored 39 points. That is too much of a load for James, who turns 40 on December 30. He can handle it, but the older James will be exhausted for the stretch run to the playoffs.

Outside of Austin Reaves, the Lakers don’t have much else. D’Angelo Russell was benched and criticized by Redick for a lack of effort in the Memphis game. Russell is a free agent next season, and his $18.7 million expiring contract could be used as trade bait at some point this season. But apart from that, the Lakers don’t seem to have that many moves.

The Bronny-LeBron issue is the last thing on the Lakers’ minds. Now that they’ve played together in a game, the Lakers can focus on winning games and getting back to the postseason.

It has been a rough 2024-2025 NFL season for the Dallas Cowboys. “America’s Team” was supposed to challenge for the NFC East title, and a playoff spot was their floor.

However, various factors have led the Cowboys to a 3-5 record heading into NFL Week 10 action. An uphill climb to make the playoffs has gotten even harder as quarterback Dak Prescott is out for at least four weeks with a severe hamstring injury. Many think he’ll be out even longer.

Prescott Suffers Partial Tear of Hamstring, May Need Surgery

Prescott suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss in Atlanta in NFL Week 9 action. The nine-year veteran tried to play through the injury, but it was just too much.

Now, various outlets are reporting that Prescott actually suffered a partial avulsion of his right hamstring, which means part of the tendon tore off the bone. The team is still figuring out if the injury can heal on its own (via rehab), or if Prescott will need surgery. If surgery is the call, Prescott is likely out for the season. The Cowboys placed Prescott on injured reserve earlier this week, which means he is out for at least four weeks.

NFL betting sites had an idea that Prescott would be out for the Cowboys’ NFL Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are 6-2 and have won four in a row. The Eagles opened up as 6.5-point favorites, and it has moved up to -7.5 at some online sportsbooks. Don’t be surprised if it moves even more to make the Eagles larger favorites over their NFC East rivals. It would be a brave decision to put the Cowboys in your NFL Week 10 underdog picks.  

It has been that kind of year for the Cowboys, who could also be without receiver CeeDee Lamb on Sunday, due to an ailing shoulder. Prescott had been having a poor season, completing 64.7% of his passes (20^th in the NFL) for 1,978 yards (11^th), 11 touchdowns (tied for 10^th), and eight interceptions (tied for third). The Cowboys have been battling injuries all season, and this might be the death knell for their campaign.

Can the Cowboys (and Mike McCarthy) Survive Without Prescott?

The Cowboys are likely to drop off the board at online sportsbooks, and you probably won’t find many good Dallas options in your NFL player props. Head coach Mike McCarthy has already said that Cooper Rush will start against the Eagles. Rush was 13-of-25 for 115 yards and a touchdown after taking over for Prescott. The 30-year-old also played six games in 2022 when Prescott missed time with a thumb injury.

The Cowboys also have Trey Lance, who was drafted third by San Francisco in 2021, and promptly traded to Dallas for a fourth-round pick in 2023. Lance has yet to attempt a pass for the Cowboys.

This means it’s going to be a difficult road for the Cowboys going forward, and likely missing the playoffs. That also spells trouble for McCarthy, who was second in the next NFL coach fired odds as of October 4. Only Jacksonville’s Doug Pederson is ahead of McCarthy, and it sounds like he’ll stay for the season. However, it would be a shock to many if McCarthy is the Dallas coach for the 2025-2026 season.

It has been an eventful start to the season for Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, despite not yet playing a game. Embiid is sidelined with an ailing knee injury so far.

On Saturday, November 2, Embiid took offense to a column written by Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Marcus Hayes. Embiid shoved Hayes while confronting him, and the NBA has levied a three-game suspension for the 2023 NBA MVP.

Embiid Takes Issue with Column That References Son and Late Brother

The suspension was handed down on Tuesday, November 5, says an ESPN report.

In a statement from Joe Dumars, the league’s executive vice president of basketball operations:

"Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA. While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter's column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical."

Hayes wrote a column talking about Embiid’s absence and availability, but he also wrote:

"Joel Embiid consistently points to the birth of his son, Arthur, as the major inflection point in his basketball career. He often says that he wants to be great to leave a legacy for the boy named after his little brother, who tragically died in an automobile accident when Embiid was in his first year as a 76er. Well, in order to be great at your job, you first have to show up for work."

Embiid took offense to Hayes invoking his son and late brother’s name in his article, and confronted him after the 76ers lost 124-107 to Memphis on Saturday, November 2. After yelling at him, Embiid shoved Hayes before he was escorted away by team representatives.

Hayes rewrote his column to omit the remarks Embiid was upset about, and he offered an apology on his X account, which has since been deleted. The 76ers have also offered an apology to Hayes from the team, although Embiid wasn’t a part of that.

What Will Embiid Lose During the Suspension?

Embiid will be suspended for three games, starting on Wednesday, November 6, with the Los Angeles Clippers. He’ll also miss Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, and Sunday’s meeting with the Charlotte Hornets. The 76ers’ star center will make his season debut against the New York Knicks, which will take place on Tuesday, November 12, in Philadelphia. It’ll also be the first NBA Cup tournament game for the Sixers, so you can bet on Embiid’s NBA player props in that game.

Embiid will also be docked $1,063,778 while he is suspended for three games. But now interactions between players and the media will be in an even bigger spotlight. Many media members think that Hayes crossed the line by talking about Embiid’s family, and that he could have made his point without doing so. Embiid’s availability is always going to be questioned. The Milwaukee Bucks had a bright outlook to start the 2024-2025 NBA season. They had a full offseason of head coach Doc Rivers and Damian Lillard, to go alongside two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

However, things haven’t gone to plan for the Bucks, who are 1-6 in their first seven games. This has led to speculation that Antetokounmpo might be available for a trade if things don’t turn around.

Why Are the Bucks Struggling?

The Bucks are 1-6 after a 116-114 loss to unbeaten Cleveland on Monday night, and that was after going down by 17 points late in the second quarter. Milwaukee battled hard to get back into the game, and they were even leading by eight points with six minutes left in the third quarter.

This has led to various outlets reporting that an Antetokounmpo trade could be on the table if the Bucks don’t turn things around quickly. It should be said that Giannis missed the Cleveland loss on Monday night, due to an adductor strain he suffered in a loss to the Cavaliers on November 2.

There are a few reasons for the Bucks’ struggles to start the season. Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists to start the season. Lillard is averaging 27.6 points and 6.7 assists, and shooting 39.1% from three-point land.

However, Bobby Portis is the next highest scorer with 12.4 points, and Brook Lopez is the only other Buck in double figures at 10.9 points. Khris Middleton has yet to play a game this season, due to a bad ankle. If you’re going to go after NBA first basket bets, Antetokounmpo and Lillard are the only easy plays for Milwaukee, who are 19^th in points scored.

Milwaukee is also 22^nd in points allowed, and 26^th in opponent three-point percentage. The three-point shot is the biggest weapon in the NBA, and teams are hitting 37.7% of their attempts on the Bucks. Any NBA player props involving anyone playing against Milwaukee’s defense deserve strong consideration.

Rivers was supposed to improve the Bucks on defense, but he hasn’t since replacing Adrian Griffin, who was fired last season. Rivers should be worried about his job as well. The Bucks would dismiss him before trading Antetokounmpo.

Who Could Trade for Giannis?

If Giannis gets to the trade market, teams will be falling over themselves to come up with packages to entice the Bucks. Antetokounmpo is still a top-five player in the NBA, and is a bona fide NBA-title swinger.

The Miami Heat are favored at some NBA betting sites to trade for Antetokounmpo after missing out on Lillard, who was traded to Milwaukee by Portland. Brooklyn, Houston, San Antonio, and Memphis are next in line.

But Antetokounmpo would likely prefer to be traded to a contender. He is good enough to swing the NBA title odds, but Brooklyn, Houston, and San Antonio are probably more than a Giannis away. Miami and Memphis are intriguing. You can bet that teams like New York and Golden State will try to get involved as well.

Nothing has been confirmed by the Bucks or Antetokounmpo, who is under contract until at least 2027, and has a $66.8 million player option for 2028. But Giannis helped the Bucks win a title in 2021, and if things don’t get better, he could use that to force his way out of Milwaukee, and the NBA will be waiting.

Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens is absolutely on fire this season. The two-time and defending NFL MVP has the Ravens at 6-3, and he has been playing like an MVP so far.

Jackson put another notch in his belt on Sunday as he had a perfect passer rating in a game for the fourth time, setting an NFL record. The Ravens pounded Denver 41-10 at home.

Jackson Clears Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, and Warner for Record

First, you should know about the parameters needed to have a perfect passer-rating game. Passer rating was first recorded in 1971.

To qualify, during a single game a player must attempt at least 10 passes, have no interceptions, have a minimum completion percentage of 77.5%, have a minimum of 11.875% of their passes score touchdowns, and have a minimum of 12.5 yards on average per attempt.

Jackson was 16-of-19 for 280 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions, to post a passer rating of 158.3 against the Broncos. It is his fourth game with a perfect passer rating. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Kurt Warner all have three perfect passer-rating games.

It was even more impressive that Jackson did it in a week when he barely practiced as the Ravens let him rest nagging back and knee injuries. He also did it against a vaunted Denver defense that has been fantastic this season, but Jackson led the Ravens on seven straight scoring drives to put the game away.

Jackson’s favorite target was receiver Zay Flowers, who caught five passes for 127 yards and a pair of scores. The Ravens now lead the NFL with 445.9 offensive yards per game, which is 33.5 more yards than second-placed San Francisco. Baltimore is also second to Detroit (32.3) with 31.4 points per game.

Can Jackson Win His Third NFL MVP?

At most NFL betting sites, you’ll find either Jackson or Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen at the top of the odds for NFL MVP. Allen is also having a great season for the 6–2 Bills, who eked out a 30-27 win over Miami. The Bengals also like to put up plenty of points, and Baltimore’s defense can be shaky. That means Jackson will have numerous opportunities to score, while Allen will be in Indianapolis to face the Colts, who also have a suspect defense.

As we head into the second half of the season, the race for NFL MVP might be the best of the award races. Jackson threw down his gauntlet against the Broncos, let’s see if Allen can respond against the Colts.

The NBA and their players have been dealing with load management for a while now. Teams and players are trying to get to the playoffs with a clean bill of health. However, the league wants its stars playing as much as possible for their fans, but more importantly, for their media deals.

The league fined the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, October 29. They claim the 76ers “misrepresented” the status of star center Joel Embiid’s injured knee in public statements recently.

Morey Says Embiid Won’t Play Back-to-Back Games, NBA Responds with Fine

The Athletic reported that the league had levied a $100,000 fine on the 76ers, who are off to a 1-2 start ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons at home.

The league claims that the 76ers “misrepresented” Embiid’s health status in an ESPN interview given by general manager Daryl Morey. His initial statement was that Embiid, as well as Paul George, wouldn’t play in back-to-back games at all this season. Keeping these players healthy for the playoffs is the priority for the 76ers, especially Embiid, who has battled injuries throughout his career. There should be NBA player props on when Embiid should play this season, as he has yet to see the court.

The NBA isn’t denying that Embiid has an injured left knee, and they agreed with the 76ers that Embiid didn’t suffer any setbacks this summer as he played with Team USA at the Olympics. The big man, if he were to play, would be a strong wager for an NBA first basket bet as the 76ers like to get Embiid early touches. However, his left knee is still weak, although Embiid is ramping up in practice.

But according to The Athletic report:

The league doesn’t want teams and players basically saying that the regular season isn’t relevant, at least in public. The NBA signed an 11-year deal with NBA, Amazon, and Disney that is worth almost $76 billion this summer. This deal is contingent on the players suiting up as much as possible, but there is a load-management movement recently as players try to stay healthy until the playoffs.

That’s fair, but the networks wouldn’t pay that much if they knew stars were going to sit out a slew of games. The league is also not debating that Embiid is hurt, but it’s the messaging on him not playing back-to-back games that got the 76ers fined.

It’s an intriguing balance that the league, players, and teams have to navigate. Teams and players want to be healthy for the playoffs. The league also wants them to play in nationally televised games, so they feel like they’re getting a good return on their investment. Don’t be surprise if this isn’t the last fine a team receives this season regarding a player’s health status.

The Ballon d’Or has sparked a lot of controversy this year. The 2024 award was presented on Monday, October 28, in Paris, and the winner was Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.

However, Real Madrid decided as a club that they would not attend the ceremony as they believe it should have gone to Real forward Vinicius Junior.

Rodri Takes Home Ballon d’Or After Incredible Season for Club and Country

Rodri made news early in the 2024-2025 season, claiming players were ready to strike due to playing too many games. Then about two weeks later, Rodri tore his ACL playing for Manchester City in a game against Arsenal, and he is likely out for the season. However, that didn’t stop Rodri from winning the Ballon d’Or for 2024.

During the 2023-2024 campaign, Rodri was fantastic for both Manchester City and Spain. He played 34 of 38 games for City as they won their fourth straight Premier League title, scoring a career-high eight goals as a defensive midfielder.

The 28-year-old was also key as City won the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. However, City lost in the Champions League quarterfinals against Real Madrid (more on them soon) in a thrilling two-legged tie that went to penalties. Manchester City’s win rate drops when Rodri is out of the lineup, and he is the most important player in Pep Guardiola’s team, which is a popular soccer parlay pick among the public.

Rodri was also instrumental as Spain rolled through Euro 2024, and he moved up the Ballon d’Or odds after he was named Player of the Tournament. While Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams earned plaudits for their attacking play, Rodri, as he is for City, is the glue that binds everything together.

But Vini Jr. wasn’t the same player for Brazil, scoring just twice in the 2024 Copa América, and they were both in a group-stage game against Paraguay. Brazil lost to Uruguay on penalties in the quarterfinals at Copa América, which may have counted against Vini Jr.

This led to many Brazilian players being upset, including Richarlison and the legendary Marta. Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga claimed that “football politics” were at play in Vini Jr.’s award snub.

However, the Ballon d’Or is usually given to attacking players that you’d see in soccer player props. The last defensive-minded player to win the award was Italy and Real Madrid’s Fabio Cannavaro in 2006.

United lost 2-1 at West Ham on Sunday, and various outlets reported on Monday morning that ten Hag had been fired after weeks of uncertainty. The club issued a statement regarding ten Hag’s status.

Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future. Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.

United triggered a one-year extension on ten Hag’s contract in May after the team beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup. It was ten Hag’s second trophy with the club after beating Newcastle in the 2023 League Cup final. However, it wasn’t enough to save his job.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over the first-team duties on an interim basis, while the search begins for a full-time manager. Of course, van Nistelrooy is a legend at United, where he scored 150 goals in 219 games between 2001 and 2006 before leaving for Real Madrid.

It’s a tough time for Manchester United right now, who are more likely to be on the wrong side of soccer parlays with their struggles. It’s not like ten Hag hasn’t been backed in the transfer market, either. United’s $102-million transfer to bring in Antony, who played for ten Hag at Ajax, is an unmitigated disaster. Another signing, Joshua Zirkzee, has had a slow start to his United career, while the jury is still out on Rasmus Hojlund and Matthijs de Ligt.

It hasn’t been all bad for ten Hag, who did oversee the two trophy wins at United. Lisandro Martínez has been a great signing, while the Dutchman has also overseen the development of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. However, ten Hag’s handling of the young players wasn’t enough to overcome the pressure on him.

Who Will Be the Next Manchester United Manager?

The Nike commercial that LeBron posted yesterday was fun, but it might be a long season for Bronny, who probably deserves to be in the G League right now. You won’t find daily NBA player props on the younger James. Against the Timberwolves, Bronny was -5 in almost three minutes of action. He still can’t shoot from outside, and Bronny still looked small on the court, although he is listed at 6’4”, and 210 pounds.

Bronny won’t see the floor in important minutes anytime soon. His work in practice will be what dictates the minutes he gets, and that’s why his Rookie of the Year odds are more about marketing than actually betting. But this was to be expected, as far back as last year when Bronny was at USC. It’s a great story, especially considering Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2023, and didn’t play for USC until December.

The NFL is a tough league, and much of the time, the teams that are the healthiest are the ones that progress through the season. NFL Week 7 action was no exception, as there were more injuries, specifically at the wide-receiver position.

The San Francisco 49ers have battled injuries all season, and will add another big name to the list. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay are down two starting receivers going into Week 8 of the NFL.

Brandon Aiyuk held out over a contract dispute to start the season. However, he wound up signing a contract for $120 million over four years, including $76 million in guaranteed money. That turned out to be a great move by Aiyuk, whose season ended on Sunday. The fifth-year wideout tore his ACL and MCL ligaments in the 49ers’ 28-18 loss to Kansas City in a Super Bowl rematch.

Aiyuk had 25 catches for 374 yards through seven games this season, and didn’t score a touchdown. He was slated for a bigger role in the 49ers’ offense, as Deebo Samuel tried to play against Kansas City. However, an illness kept him on the sidelines. It is revealed that Samuel actually has pneumonia, and there is no timetable for his return.

The 49ers had already been missing receiver Jauan Jennings due to a hip injury, and tight end George Kittle has a sprained foot. That’s not even considering star running back Christian McCaffrey, who hasn’t played yet this season because of an ailing Achilles.

As was shown above, the 49ers are sliding down the Super Bowl 59 odds. They’re 3-4 on the season, and have a massive Sunday Night Football game coming up against a struggling Dallas team. The 49ers have a bye following that week, and hopefully, they can get through the Cowboys’ game without any more injuries.

Bucs Lose Godwin, Evans to Injury

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also fighting the injury bug, as they lost 41-31 at home to Baltimore on Monday Night Football. The Tampa Bay offense just couldn’t keep up with Baltimore’s unit, and now things are going to get worse.

Receiver Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle in a gruesome injury, and is likely out for the season. Head coach Todd Bowles is taking heat today as Godwin was injured with about a minute left in the game, and the Bucs were down by 10 points. Many feel that Godwin shouldn’t have been in the game at that point.

Fellow wideout Mike Evans had already exited the game in the second quarter as he aggravated a hamstring problem. Evans had already missed some practice during the week due to the injury, and had caught a 25-yard touchdown pass, which was the 100^th touchdown reception of his career. However, he’ll likely be on the sideline for some amount of time now.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is now without his favorite targets. He has 18 touchdowns on the season, and 11 of those have gone to Godwin and Evans. The rest of the Bucs’ offense has to step up, but it’s going to be difficult to make up for their production.
