Caitlin Clark Is Likely Moving To The WNBA In 2024

  • Odds at online betting sites favor Caitlin Clark leaving Iowa after this season and declaring for the 2024 WNBA Draft.
  • The star guard has broken the all-time NCAA women’s college basketball scoring record and is closing in on the overall NCAA scoring record.
  • Iowa has the third-best odds of winning the 2024 Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament.

It looks like Caitlin Cark is going pro in 2024, at least according to the bookies. After the 22-year-old Iowa guard’s unprecedented rise through college basketball, moving her talents to the WNBA is the only logical step. According to Caitlin Clark’s odds at Bovada, she is a -325 favorite to declare for the 2024 WNBA Draft.

In short, Clark has an implied probability of 76.5 percent to bypass her fifth year of college eligibility to go to the WNBA. Additionally, Clark has +600 odds to win the 2024 WNBA MVP award.

Although 2024 WNBA MVP odds for other players are currently unavailable, this would likely position Clark behind Alyssa Thomas, A’ja Wilson and the reigning WNBA MVP from the 2023 season Breanna Stewart.

Undisputed No. 1 WNBA Draft Pick

If Clark declares, there is no debating who will be the first pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft. The Indiana Fever will almost certainly use the top pick to get her. The other option for Clark is to return for her fifth season at Iowa (+185) and continue to collect lucrative NIL deals.

Clark would be preparing for her career in Indiana well before the WNBA Draft that’s scheduled for April 15, 2024. Aside from a major career-changing injury, the Los Angeles Sparks and Phoenix Mercury can forget about Clark falling to the second or third selection.

Given Clark’s immense success at Iowa, she is the most highly coveted women’s basketball player in the world. As of Monday, Feb. 26, Clark has averaged 32.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game.

She has been incredibly efficient from the floor, with a field goal percentage of 46.5.

The sharpshooter has also connected on 38.8 percent of her three-point attempts.

Clark has consistently performed at a high level throughout her career. In four years, the 6-foot native of West Des Moines, Iowa, has averaged 28.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per contest.

The expectations are that her success will easily translate to the WNBA, changing the landscape of the league.

Shattering College Basketball Records

On Feb. 15, Clark broke the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record. In Iowa’s 106-89 win over the Michigan Wolverines, Clark poured in 49 points for a new career-high and Iowa women’s basketball record.

The outstanding performance resulted in Clark passing Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record of 3,527 career points. Clark accomplished the feat with four games remaining in the regular season.

In addition to the all-time women’s college basketball points record, Clark is attempting to run down Pete Maravich’s men’s record. Currently, Clark has scored 3,617 career points in her collegiate career and will pass Maravich’s mark shortly.

In only three years at LSU, “Pistol Pete” scored 3,667 points from 1967 to 1970 to snap the NCAA record. Although Clark will need one more season to catch Maravich, she is well on her way to cruising past 3,667 points.

Caitlin Clark has smashed the current Women’s NCAA record of 3,527 career points.

Currently, with an overall record of 24-4, Iowa is the No. 4 ranked team in the country. Despite Clark’s incredible run, Iowa (+850) has the third-shortest odds to win the 2024 Women’s NCAA Tournament.

At Bovada, the South Carolina Gamecocks (-130) are strong favorites to win the women’s title. According to oddsmakers, the LSU Tigers (+800) have the second-likeliest chance of winning back-to-back national titles.

Caitlin Clark’s NBA Draft Odds

Yes, you can bet on Clark being drafted by an NBA team. However, don’t get too excited, as Clark’s NBA Draft odds are highly improbable.

Per Bovada, Clark has +50000 odds of being drafted by an NBA team. This equates to an implied probability of just 0.2 percent. The last-place Detroit Pistons have +100000 odds of drafting Clark, for an implied probability of 0.1 percent.

With that in mind, rest assured Clark will be on her way to the WNBA and not the NBA. Clark’s NBA Draft odds are nothing more than a novelty wager for fun. She is an incredible talent, but playing in the NBA is out of the question.

However, if you are confident in Clark being drafted to the WNBA in 2024, you can bet on her to lead the league in scoring at +400. Also, Clark is +1200 to lead the WNBA in points and assists for the 2024 season.
