The rest of the NBA finally took notice of Jayson Tatum as a primetime player when he won the first-ever Larry Bird Eastern Conference MVP award, leading the Boston Celtics to an appearance in the 2022 NBA Finals. Boston went as near as two games away from winning the NBA title before the Warriors won three in a row to clinch the title.
This season, the Celtics opened as one of the early title favorites. After 13 games played this season, Boston is not the +500 co-favorites with the Milwaukee Bucks at FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, Borgata Online, and BetRivers.
Similarly, Tatum has moved up the MVP odds boards as Boston’s top-performing player this season.

According to online sportsbook Bet365, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has had the biggest improvement in MVP betting odds since the start of the season.
Spida opened at +5000 but is now down to +2800 at the said betting site. However, the player who has moved up the ladder highest is Jayson Tatum who is now third behind Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic.
Last July, the Top 5 MVP favorites were Doncic at +425, Giannis at +600, Hoel Embiid at +700, Kevin Durant at +900, and Tatum, Ja Morant, and Nikola Jokic all at +1200 odds. As of last Saturday, Luka still stood as the +220 favorite followed by Antetokounmpo at +250 but with Tatum moving up to third at +800.
As of the latest Bet365 US NBA MVP odds board, Giannis is the new frontrunner at +260 odds while Luka has dropped to second at +275. Meanwhile, Tatum has continued to shorten and is now listed at +450 odds as the third favorite.
Tatum has also shortened to +475 via DraftKings Sportsbook, and +500 via FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, and BetRivers. His longest odds are at +550 via BetMGM and Borgata Online. At all sportsbooks, Antetokounmpo and Doncic are the only two players with shorter odds than the Celtics star. But considering they were already at the top of the betting boards before the season started, it’s Tatum who has made the significant move.
