The Copa America 2024 odds won’t surprise anyone: Argentina and Brazil are the main favorites. The best soccer sportsbooks expect the two giants to determine the eventual winner, but I’m sure other teams will be eager to upset the odds.
The Copa is coming to the USA on June 20, so six North American nations will join their neighbors this year!
Let’s go through the latest Copa America winner odds to see if the bookies give any of them a shot, before I analyze the top favorites and finish with my predictions for the competition.

Argentina (+175) remains the team to beat at Copa America 2024. According to the latest Copa America 2024 odds on betting apps, Lionel Messi’s squad has a 36.4% implied chance to win the title.
The odds to win Copa America 2024 haven’t moved over the last month. Argentina remains a +175 favorite, while Brazil is the second choice among bettors, at +225. Brazil has an implied probability of winning of 30.8%.
Following the Brazilian side, the probability of winning falls off to Uruguay (+500) at 16.7%! You can bet on all participants at BetUS, but I’m not sure that going for the big underdogs is a good idea! The favorites should dominate this one, so let’s focus on them next.

Copa America 2024 Favorites
We have two obvious favorites according to the Copa America odds in 2024: Argentina and Brazil. It’s hard to disagree with the oddsmakers since the talent and depth these countries bring is simply on another level.
Still, you should never exclude Uruguay from your Copa America winner predictions since the team has won the tournament 15 times! Let’s look at South America’s big three to see what they have to offer in 2024.
Argentina (+175)
Argentina is the most successful nation in Copa America with 15 titles, including the last tournament in 2021, and having reached 29 finals. On top of that, the country won the 2022 World Cup, so It’s only natural that most sports betting sites view Argentina as the main favorite again.
The squad features both young talents, hungry to prove their quality, and experienced veterans, who can provide leadership in the key moments.
This group has already won two major tournaments in the past 3 years, so they will come to the US with only one thing in mind – the title!
It’s important to note that the 2024 Copa America might be Lionel Messi’s last major tournament with Argentina! The soccer legend is expected to play in the US this summer, as long as he’s healthy.

Messi appears ready for Copa America 2024. There haven’t been any setbacks in his preparations. However, Argentina could be down a key piece in German Pezzella. The 32-year-old veteran center-back is still dealing with a muscle tear from last month.
The injury has continued to linger despite Pezzella originally expected to play at Copa America 2024. Nevertheless, veteran leadership shouldn’t be a problem with Messi at the controls. The superstar might be far from his best years physically, but I don’t think this is going to be that big of an issue for two reasons.
The first one is that international soccer is slower, so he doesn’t need to run and press as much. Secondly, Argentina can rely on young guns like Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, and Alejandro Garnacho to do the running. That worked well in the World Cup, so I expect more of the same in the Copa.
The other player who deserves a special mention is Emiliano Martinez. The Aston Villa goalkeeper is built for elimination tournaments and has a fantastic record in penalty shootouts.
He was one of Argentina’s top performers in the World Cup, so I expect more of the same this summer.
This team is built to win now and features an excellent blend of youth and experience. At the same time, the odds of +175 are very short for such a tough tournament, so I’m not sure backing Argentina makes sense right now.
I’m not a big fan of Argentina’s group either. The team is in a tricky company with Peru, Chile, and Canada. On the surface, Argentina is a major favorite, but all these teams can be tough to beat on a good day.
They are not good enough to send Argentina home after the group stage, but Messi might be required to spend a lot of energy early on.

- Argentina 1 – Brazil 0 (Nov. 21, 2023)
- Uruguay 2 – Argentina 0 (Nov. 16, 2023)
Argentina is in great form with four consecutive wins heading into Copa America 2024. Their last loss sticks out against big rival Uruguay. They came up short by two goals in a 2-0 loss, but have responded nicely since then.
On Sunday, June 9, they picked up a textbook 1-0 victory over Ecuador. Argentina has one final prep match against Guatemala before the Copa America 2024 group stage opens.
Brazil (+225)
Brazil, the other superpower in South American soccer, has been in Argentina’s shadow recently. The team underperformed in the World Cup and lost the 2021 Copa final against Argentina at home.
It was a heart-breaking defeat for both players and supporters, so I expect a very motivated Brazil side in 2024.
This will be the first time in a long time without Neymar in the squad, so it’s interesting to see how the team responds. I expect this new Brazil to actually perform better.
In the past, it felt like the team was relying on Neymar too much. Spreading the responsibility around should elevate young players with leadership potential like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Lucas Paqueta, and Bruno Guimaraes.
Junior is coming off an impressive Champions League for Real Madrid. He helped power Real Madrid to the Champions League title, which included a goal in the final over Dortmund. In top form, Junior is regarded as one of the best in the world right now.

If you add the experience of Alisson, Gabriel Jesus, Casemiro, and other proven veterans, you can see why Brazil is one of the favorites for Copa America.
The biggest concern for Brazil heading into Copa America 2024 has to be the absence of Ederson. The Manchester City keeper will be unavailable in the tournament due to an eye injury. This is not the end of the world, though, since Alisson is the first choice anyway.
This team will be eager to bring the trophy back home after disappointing in the last two major tournaments. When a team of this depth and quality plays with extra motivation, that’s always a recipe for success.
The problem here once again are the short odds. +225 before the start of the competition is just way too low for my taste.
Recent Results:
- Brazil 3 – Mexico 2 (June 8, 2024)
- Brazil 3 – Spain 3 (March 26, 2024)
- Brazil 1 – England 0 (March 23, 2024)
- Argentina 1 – Brazil 0 (Nov. 21, 2023)
- Colombia 2 – Brazil 1 (Nov. 16, 2023)
Brazil has some quality wins on their resume over the last five matches. Most notably, they defeated England this past March, 1-0. However, rival Argentina got the better of them in a World Cup Qualifying match in November.
The Brazilians are coming off a hard-fought 3-2 win over Mexico in one of their finals tune-ups for Copa America 2024. On June 12, they’ll wrap up their friendly schedule against the US.
Uruguay (+500)
You should always pay attention to Uruguay in Copa America. The country has won the tournament 15 times, joint top with Argentina, and been to 21 finals.
The last title came way back in 2011, but the current crop shouldn’t be underestimated. Uruguay always relies on discipline and team work, but they also have quality players like Federico Valverde and Darwin Nunez, who can score at any given moment.
37-year-old Luis Suarez is preparing for his fifth Copa America 2024! The Inter Miami star is expected to play a focal role in the locker room and on the field for Uruguay. The skillful striker has been in sharp form, with 12 goals and five assists in 16 matches for Inter Miami.
Other positive factors are the enormous experience of head coach Marcelo Bielsa and the easy group with the USA, Panama, and Bolivia. Uruguay should easily reach the knockouts and should be very hard to beat in an elimination match.
Recent Results:
- Uruguay 4 – Mexico 0 (June 5, 2024)
- Uruguay 0 – Costa Rica 0 (May 31, 2024)
- Ivory Coast 2 – Uruguay 1 (March 26, 2024)
- Uruguay 3 – Bolivia 0 (Nov. 21, 2023)
- Uruguay 2 – Argentina 0 (Nov. 16, 2023)
The Uruguay side is on the heels of a stellar effort against Mexico. Uruguay topped the Mexicans in a 4-0 blowout. There have been some mixed results for the Uruguayans.
The country’s resume includes a 2-0 win over Argentina, but recorded a 2-1 loss to Ivory Coast, too. Expect Uruguay to be prepared and roll through Group C en route to a deep push at Copa America 2024.
Best Sleeper For Copa America 2024
It’s hard to see how a team outside of the big three can win the tournament, but I like the Copa America champion odds available for Mexico. Getting +1100 for the country is not a bad deal at all.
The team is in a fairly easy group with Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica. Finishing first would likely mean avoiding Argentina, so the road to the semifinals looks open.
The odds for Mexico should drop significantly if that happens, so backing the team with a small Copa America winner bet makes a lot of sense.
With players like Jorge Sanchez, Edson Alvarez, Raul Jimenez and Hirving Lozano in the squad, Mexico has a fighting chance even against the big guns in the 2024 Copa.
Copa America 2024 Predictions and Betting Pick
Most people will back the big guns with their predictions for the Copa America winner, but I really hate the odds for both Argentina and Brazil. Argentina isn’t as dangerous as they were two years ago in the World Cup, while Brazil is known for underperforming in big tournaments.
There’s something very appealing about Uruguay’s chances. The underdog is not on the same level as the main favorites but will be extremely hard to beat in an elimination match.
The combination of team spirit, quality up front, El Loco as a head coach, and high odds gives me enough reasons to back Uruguay with my 2024 Copa America betting pick.
