How We Select the Top Sportsbooks for OK Bettors
Our comprehensive sportsbook review process for Oklahoma bettors prioritizes security, payment options, competitive odds, and mobile compatibility to ensure a seamless betting experience. To provide Oklahomans with the best possible online sports betting experience, our reviewers thoroughly evaluate each sportsbook based on a comprehensive set of criteria:
Oklahoma-Based Sports Betting Markets
We look for sites that provide odds on more teams than just pro teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder. We also look for the ability to bet on local OK teams, like the minor league baseball’s Oklahoma Dodgers or the FC Tulsa soccer team, among others.
Site Security and Safety Measures
We prioritize sites that provide TLS encryption for all transactions and offer a range of sportsbook payment methods. Protecting player data and using anti-fraud protocols to detect money laundering activity are crucial.
Variety of Betting Options
We prefer recommending Oklahoma sports betting sites with a full range of sports betting options – from the NFL to minor league baseball. The best go a step further to provide politics, college, entertainment, and esports betting options that will likely not be available at in-state sportsbooks when OK legalizes its own sports betting industry.
Sites That Cater to All Budget Sizes
A good betting site caters to all budgets, offering a varied range of deposit limits. Top betting sites allow players to trigger welcome sportsbook bonuses for as little as $20, as well as facilitate high-rollers who want to deposit thousands of dollars at once.
User Interface Quality on All Devices
Our reviewers prefer sportsbooks that work on all devices, from desktop computers to phones and tablets. Optimized mobile sites let players free to navigate with ease. Cashouts, live betting, and glitch-free streaming are all paramount qualities of the best Oklahoma sportsbooks.
How to Choose the Best Online Betting Sites for You
We can make OK online sports betting recommendations, but the final decision on which site to join is yours. Here are some factors to consider when assessing which top-rated site might be best for you:
-
If you’re new to online sports betting in Oklahoma, a simple sign-up process is necessary to ensure a good first experience. Look for a site that has a quick sign-up procedure, such as BetOnline. If you want to start betting right away, some only require ID verification when you decide to withdraw. This way you save time and can begin betting as soon as you’ve made your first deposit.
-
How do you want to fund your sports betting activity, and how you want to withdraw your winnings? Most players will use their Ohio bank cards supported by Visa or Mastercard to make cash deposits. If you’re a high roller then you may prefer bank wire transfers. Check out the cashier page of your betting site to see whether they offer your preferred sportsbook banking method. Many offshore sites prioritize crypto withdrawals, with faster processing times and zero fees.
-
The best Oklahoma sports betting sites offer live betting as the standard for all players. If you want to bet in-play on the Thunder, Sooners, and FC Tulsa then be sure to join a recommended offshore sportsbook, such as MyBookie. Live betting on NCAA games is particularly popular, especially in a state with such a rich college sports history.
-
“Juice” is the cut sportsbooks take for hosting your bet. The beauty of betting at offshore sites is they can offer lower vigorish at levels unseen at sites like FanDuel and BetMGM. Oklahoma may legalize in-state sports betting in 2024, but the best prices will always be available out of state. So, be sure to check the odds of your chosen sportsbook to ensure you’re getting good sports betting value.
-
Maximize your chances of winning by joining a site that gives free advice, analysis, and tips. A site like BetUS offers daily previews of Oklahoma sports teams, including the Thunder, so you can place smarter bets.
Is Online Sports Betting Legal In Oklahoma?
Sports betting is not legal in Oklahoma despite efforts from the state legislator to open up the industry. There are no land-based sportsbooks in Oklahoma, even though there are 149 tribal casinos. Indeed, while neighboring states Kansas and Arkansas have fully legalized sports betting industries, Oklahoma is still playing catch-up.
There are plans to introduce both in-person and online sports betting in Oklahoma, hopefully before 2024 is out. Governor Kevin Stitt has announced his intention to legalize in-person sports betting at gaming sites operated by federally recognized tribes. There are also plans to grant sportsbooks with licenses that would allow them to offer mobile betting in-state.
For now, bettors have to turn to offshore sites that are not regulated by the state if they want to wager on sports. Fortunately, these sportsbooks offer a lot more freedom to bettors, compared to what would be available if OK legalized its gambling industry.
Offshore sites are able to offer better odds because they don’t have to pay state taxes. They can also run more diverse lines and props on events such as college sports, entertainment, and politics, which aren’t covered under federal law.
Oklahoma Sports Betting Timeline
The future of Oklahoma’s sports betting is difficult to predict. The state has been resistant to full legalization of its betting industry, yet has a rich history of gambling thanks to the 100+ tribal casinos situated across OK.
Below is a quick history of sports betting in Oklahoma and where we sit right now:
November 2023
Governor Kevin Stitt announces plans to introduce legislation in 2024 aimed at legalizing in-person and online sports betting within the state. “I promised Oklahomans if we pursued sports betting, we would do it right— and this plan does just that” says Gov. Stitt. “It’ll be a great revenue stream for the state. Tribes will be able to add it onto their existing infrastructure, and Oklahomans can access it right from their phone.”
April 2023
House Bill 1027, which would’ve allowed in-person and mobile sports betting in Oklahoma, fails to advance to the Senate before the April 13 deadline. The proposal would have taxed tribes 4% on the first $5 million in sports betting income received in a month, 5% on the next $5M and 6% for additional monies.
January 2022
Republican state Rep. Ken Luttrell introduces House Bill 3008, which aims to again legalize in-person sports betting at tribal casinos. The bill does not include mobile sports betting, but it fails to get any support.
August 2020
Governor Kevin Stitt seeks to legalize sports betting when signing compacts with the Kialegee Tribal Town and United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, whose compacts were up for renewal. However, the Oklahoma Supreme Court strikes down the compacts in 2021.
September 2018
Governor Mary Fallin signs House Bill 3375 into law. The bill allows Oklahoma’s tribal casinos to offer non-house-banked versions of craps and roulette. It initially included an allowance for sports betting at tribal casinos, but all reference to sports betting was removed before the bill was approved.
May 2018
The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) is struck down by the US Supreme Court, which opens the door for states to legalize their sports betting industries. Oklahoma lawmakers immediately begin looking into how they can launch and regulate sports betting in the state.
Most Popular Teams to Bet on in Oklahoma
Oklahoma is a sports-mad state that champions college sports as much as the pro leagues. If you’re looking to bet on college teams like the Sooners and Cowboys, offshore sites are the place to look. Here are the sports and teams you can expect to find:
Oklahoma Professional League Teams
- Oklahoma City Thunder (Basketball – NBA)
