Following his upset over Djokovic, Sinner has opened as a -275 betting favorite over Medvedev. According to the 2024 Men’s Australian Open odds, the 22-year-old Italian has an implied probability of 73.7 percent to beat the 2021 U.S. Open winner.
At +600, Sinner opened the tournament with the third-best odds to win. Medvedev was listed right behind Sinner, with the fourth-best odds, at +900.

Australian Open Men’s Final: Sinner vs. Medvedev
Sinner shocked the world with a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (8-6), 6-3, victory over Djokovic. Was it really that much of a surprising win, though? Of course, it was an upset, but Sinner was one of the most notable breakout candidates for 2024.
The native of San Candido, Italy, is getting started earlier than many people expected, however. Sinner didn’t just beat Djokovic, he was close to destroying Djokovic in straight sets. Despite losing the third set, Sinner didn’t get rattled and calmly beat Djokovic in the fourth.
With the win, Sinner has won 19 of 21 sets at the 2024 Australian Open. The 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, victory over Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals was nearly as impressive as the win over Djokovic1. He has been locked in from the opening round in Melbourne.
And, in his first appearance as a Grand Slam finalist, Sinner is a heavy favorite to win the Australian Open men’s title. He should face some resistance against a confident Medvedev. The 27-year-old veteran is coming off an incredibly impressive comeback versus Alexander Zverev.
After going down 5-7, 3-6, following the first two sets, Medvedev was forced to win three straight sets over a confident Zverev. That is what happened as Medvedev won the match, 5-7, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
The Australian Open hasn’t gone as smoothly for Medvedev as Sinner, though. Three of his matches went to five sets, including the second-round opener against Emil Ruusuvouri. His last two matches went to a fifth and final set.
In the quarterfinals, Medvedev dispatched Hubert Hurkacz by a score of 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-42. We can say that Medvedev has been battle-tested going into the final at Rod Laver Arena. If Sinner has to face some adversity, we will see how he reacts against Medvedev.
Australian Open Men’s Final Predictions
Sinner is the clear favorite in the 2024 Men’s Australian Open final match, for good reason. He has been on a massive tear in January. However, the Australian Open men’s final odds aren’t giving Medvedev much of a chance against Sinner.
Despite being the only Grand Slam winner in this match, the oddsmakers like the young rising star over the veteran. Sinner has to be the favorite, though -4.5 (-115) and -275 odds to win appear to be slightly inflated. According to the odds of winning the Australian Open, it would be a fairly sizable upset if Medvedev wins.
Having said that, we wouldn’t see a Medvedev win as being that much of a shocker. He likes playing on a hard court, which has been evident from his results over the last year. In 2023-24, Medvedev has a record of 58-13 on a hard surface3.
All the betting value is on Medvedev to win his second Grand Slam title and first at the Australian Open. Consider betting on Medvedev on the point spread at +4.5 points to make this a competitive match. At the least, he should manage to keep this match competitive for a chance at the Australian Open title.
Australian Open Men’s Final Prop Bets
Check out some of the best Australian Open Men’s Final prop bets courtesy of Bovada:
Will Daniil Medvedev Win At Least One Set?
WIN A SET | ODDS |
---|---|
Yes | -310 |
No | +225 |
Considering that we believe Medvedev will be competitive, he’s likely going to win a set against Sinner. There should be at least one set where Medvedev has the young gun on his heels.
Medvedev is a savvy player who should get the upper hand at times in this match. The odds to win a set at -310 aren’t the best, but we see him winning at least one, and probably two sets, for a thrilling final against Sinner.
Will Jannik Sinner Win At Least One Set?
WIN A SET | ODDS |
---|---|
Yes | -2000 |
No | +900 |
It would be a shocking surprise to see Medvedev win in straight sets over Sinner. The Italian’s form is too good right now to allow Medvedev to run away with the Australian Open title.
At -2000 odds, there is no value on the board for this bet. Nevertheless, Sinner is winning a minimum of two sets at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday.
Any Set To Nil
SET TO NIL | ODDS |
---|---|
Yes | +1200 |
No | -3300 |
The Australian Open men’s final should be too competitive for Sinner or Medvedev to win a set without dropping a point. Regardless of how the rest of the match plays out, there isn’t going to be a perfect set from either player.
This is another Australian Open men’s prop bet where there isn’t any value on the board. But, we would need more than +1200 odds to back the “Yes” option.
