Poland’s Iga Swiatek is the favorite to win in Paris with+120 odds. She’s held the number one position for more than 100 weeks, dominating the field ever since she took the no.1 spot in September 2022. It’s no surprise oddsmakers have marked her to win gold, despite this being her first Olympic appearance.
Former world no. 1 and current no. 2 ranked Aryna Sabalenka (+500) has the next best odds to win after Swiatek. Coco Gauff (+600), Elena Rybakina (+1200), and Marketa Vondrousova (+1400) round out the top five. While the trio has longer odds to win than Sabalenka and Swiatek, all three have won major titles and are 100% capable of leaving Paris with Olympic gold.
Women’s 2024 Olympic Tennis Tournament Format and Surface
You should always consider the tournament format and surface as part of your tennis betting strategy. In Paris 2024, 64 women will enter the single-elimination tournament. Each match is best two-out-of-three sets with seven-point tiebreakers—including the third set.
Qualification for the 2024 Olympic Women’s Tennis Tournament is mainly based on each player’s respective WTA ranking, and additional spots are granted to players from the host county as well; France, in this case.
One notable aspect of the 2024 tournament is that it will be the first Olympic tennis finals contested on clay since Barcelona, 1992. Swiatek has dominated opponents with a career record of 77-10 on clay, while Sabalenka boasts a 63% clay win rate of 79-46.

Let’s talk about the most likely women to take tennis gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris next, including Swiatek, Sabalenka, and Coco Gauff.
Iga Swiatek, Poland (+120)
Poland’s Iga Swiatek has dominated the WTA tour ever since September 2022. She’s 38-4 in 2024 alone, a record that already includes four singles titles. This will be Iga’s first foray into Olympic singles competition, having made the quarterfinals in doubles at the 2020 Tokyo games.
As far as I’m concerned, the tournament is Swiatek’s to lose. That’s not to say she’s unbeatable, far from it, but she’s on a particularly hot streak in 2024, is fantastic on clay courts, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Aryna Sabalenka, Belarus (+500)
Looking to stand in Swiatek’s way is Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka—a former world no. 1 in her own right. Sabalenka has the best odds of defeating the main favorite, despite a career record of 3-8 against Swiatek.
The two have met six times on clay, with Swiatek taking all but one of the contests. As a matter of fact, the world number 1 has already beaten Sabalenka in two clay tournament finals this year alone; Madrid and Italy, respectively.
Even though Sabalenka hasn’t beat Swiatek in a clay final yet this year, she’s the world’s no. 2 player for a good reason and has every chance to come out on top in Paris.
Coco Gauff, United States (+600)
Coco Gauff is America’s next tennis sensation. The 20-year-old from Atlanta has already won seven WTA titles, most notably her home US Open Championship in 2023. She is ranked third in the world after Swiatek and Sabalenka, and it’s worth mentioning that she has victories over both of those players. She’s also the highest ranked American on either tour.
Swiatek has bested Gauff in 10 of their 11 meetings so far, while Coco has a 3-2 record against Sabalenka.
She’s no stranger to clay either, having reached the French Open finals in 2022. Gauff also made the French Open Quarterfinals in 2021 and 2023 respectively, and enjoys an overall record of 15-4 at the high-profile clay tournament.
While The French Open is not the same as the Olympics, Coco Gauff’s impressive clay record means that the upstart American has a fighting chance to win her first career Olympic gold medal.
Best Sleepers in the Women’s Paris 2024 Tennis Tournament
Underdog runs provide sports with some of its best moments, and tennis is no different. Here’s three women I think have the chance to surprise the field and potentially make a run at tennis gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
- Ons Jauber, Tunisia (+2000)
Ons Jauber is not only ranked ninth in the world (as of late May), she’s also the highest ranked African and Arab player in both WTA and ATP history. The Tunisian has eleven singles titles under her belt and was the runner-up at both the 2022 and 2023 Wimbledon Finals, as well as the 2022 US Open. Jauber—a former number world no. 2—is my top sleeper pick to win gold in Paris.
- Maria Sakkari, Greece (+3300)
Except for one week, Maria Sakkari has occupied a top 10 spot every week since September 2021. She has all the components of a world no. 1 player, but hasn’t been able to quite parlay them into the top ranking thus far. Sakkari is a former world no. 3 and 13-9 in 2024. She’s looking to carry that momentum into Stade Roland Garros and claim gold at her first Olympic appearance.
- Elina Svitolina, Ukraine (+3300)
Elina Svitolina achieved a career-high world ranking of no. 3 in September 2017. The Ukrainian has 17 WTA titles to her name, has reached the semifinals of a major three times, and was the 2018 WTA Finals champion. She took a two-year hiatus to have a baby with her husband and ATP tour player Gael Monfils, returning in January 2023. Currently, Svitolina holds the world no. 17 position, and at +3300, her odds contain excellent value!
2024 Olympic Tennis Women Prediction and Betting Pick
I’d have a hard time betting on anyone not-named Iga Swiatek to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Tennis tournament. The entire WTA has been at her mercy since 2022, and the 22-year-old will only continue to improve. Iga Swiatek is my clear-cut pick to win gold in Paris.
That said, she isn’t unbeatable by any means. Number two-ranked Aryna Sabalenka has beat her three times, including once on clay, but Swiatek has beaten Sabalenka in two finals this year alone.
If you’re looking for more of a long shot bet, I’d go with Coco Gauff (+600) or Ons Jauber (+2000). Still, my main pick for the women’s singles in Paris 2024 is the world number one.
