2024 NFL Combine Fastest 40-Yard Dash Time Odds and Prediction

TimeOdds
Faster Than 4.27 Seconds-120
Slower Than 4.27 Seconds-120

The most exciting drill of the week is, of course, the 40-yard dash. It has only grown in popularity since NFL Network started televising the 40-yard dash. While it certainly is not a perfect drill to measure speed and quickness, it’s the one drill that has remained the most relevant and prevalent over the past 30 years.

The NFL Combine record for the fastest 40-yard dash was set by John Ross (4.22) during the 2017 combine. That record was nearly broken in 2022 when Baylor CB Kalon Barnes ran a blazing 4.23 40-yard dash.

It’s unlikely that anyone will come close to those numbers this season, especially with several top wide receivers already opting out of the event.

But can someone run faster than a 4.27 40-yard dash? It’s worth noting that only ten players since 1999 have run a sub 4.27 at the 40-yard dash. It did happen once in 2023, with Michigan cornerback D.J. Turner running a 4.26. While this group has some fantastic athletes, no one is expected to run a sub-4.27.

Take the Slower Than 4.27 line here and expect the fastest time to come in around 4.30 seconds.

The Bet
UNDER 4.27 SECONDS

2024 NFL Combine Highest Vertical Jump Odds and Prediction

Highest Vertical Jump HeightOdds
Over 43.5 Inches-145
Under 43.5 Inches+105

Over the last several seasons, we’ve seen more and more players post ridiculous vertical jumps. We even saw our first quarterback ever post a 40+ inch vertical leap (Anthony Richardson, 40.5”). And it won’t be a surprise if a dozen players or more exceed 40 inches in the vertical jump.

However, going over 43.5 inches is rare. Since 1999, only 14 players have recorded a vertical jump of 44” or more. The last one to do so was Illinois safety Jartavius Martin during the 2023 NFL Combine. This is the hardest to figure out of all the drills on this list, but the NFL Combine betting odds for the under are too tempting to skip.

The Bet
UNDER 43.5 INCHES

2024 NFL Combine Fastest 20-Yard Shuttle Odds and Prediction

20-Yard Shuttle TimeOdds
Faster Than 3.88 Seconds-110
Slower Than 3.88 Seconds-130

One of the more interesting trends when it comes to NFL Combine betting is who is and isn’t participating in drills. A few years ago, it was unheard of for players to skip a drill unless they were dealing with an injury. Now, it’s almost expected for the nation’s top prospects.  Several elite athletes have already confirmed that they will not be doing any testing at the trials.

But another trend worth monitoring is entire position groups opting out of testing. During the 2022 combine, all of the running backs opted out of the 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill. They decided as a group that they wouldn’t participate after slower numbers than usual from the wide receivers. While we aren’t sure if that trend will continue, it’s something to watch out for when it comes to drills like this.

With more players opting out of the agility drills entirely, it only makes sense to bet on the “Slower than 3.88 seconds” line here. During the 2023 NFL Combine, no player ran a faster 20-yard shuttle than a 3.93. Only Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) ran faster than a 4.05 in the short shuttle. This is just a drill that a lot of players aren’t preparing for any longer and are opting out of it. Therefore, take the under here and expect the fastest time to come in around 3.95.

The Bet
UNDER 3.88

2024 NFL Combine Most Bench Press Reps Odds and Prediction

bench press repsOdds
Over 40 Reps-105
Under 40 Reps-135

Prospects at the NFL Combine are asked to bench press 225 pounds as many times as possible to show off their strength. While the bench press isn’t the best indicator of functional strength on the football field, it does show which players have been committed in the weight room.

The odds of -105 for a player to record over 40 bench press reps feel a bit high. The leader from the 2023 season was USC OL Andrew Vorhees with 38.

No other player in the 2023 draft class was able to produce more than 34. During the 2022 draft process, no player benched press more than 32 reps.

More prospects are opting out of the bench press, which makes this line even more favorable to the under bettors. While this class is very strong on the offensive line, it is unlikely that anyone will hit 41 or more reps. Take the under here and expect the highest bench press rep total to come in around 38.

The Bet
UNDER 40 REPS

While these are the four most popular betting markets for the NFL Combine and my best bets, Bovada offers additional markets, including whether the 40-yard dash record will be broken.

Will any player jump further than 12’3 in the broad jump? And will any player record 50+ bench press reps? If you think you have the answer, check out all of Bovada’s odds and lines for the upcoming NFL Combine.
