It appears the Tennessee Titans are officially throwing in the towel on the 2023 season. After winning nine or more games in seven of the last eight seasons, the Titans are hitting the reset button and are looking toward the future.
They have already traded away All-Pro safety Kevin Byard (to the Philadelphia Eagles) and several other veterans could be on their way out soon.
But is the year the Titans actually trade away Derrick Henry? He’s been in trade discussions for years, but now it finally seems plausible.

Betting Favorites To Trade For Derrick Henry
The following teams are the odds-on favorites to land Derrick Henry in a trade according to online betting sites:
Buffalo Bills (+200)
After getting a win in Week 8 over the Buccaneers, the Bills now have ten days to get ready for their Week 9 game against the Bengals. This would be the right time to add a player like Henry, who could give their backfield some juice.
Latavius Murray has been the team’s starting running back over the last three games, but he’s averaging just 3.6 yards per carry. Murray will turn 34 in January and isn’t giving the team enough juice.
The Bills still use James Cook quite a bit, but they would love to pair him with a bigger back with some home-run speed. Henry would be a major upgrade over Murray and would help this struggling offense become more inconsistent.
Kansas City Chiefs (+300)
The Chiefs are in a Super Bowl window with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, so you can never rule them out regarding former All-Pro players. But Henry doesn’t make a lot of sense in their scheme. He’s not much of a pass catcher and his best running comes from single-back sets when the quarterback is under center. That doesn’t happen often as Patrick Mahomes lives in the shotgun.
The Chiefs could use another running back with some more size or power, but the fit with Henry just isn’t there. Pass on these odds as it seems unlikely the Chiefs would make a move for him. Instead, look for them to explore a Dalvin Cook or Antonio Gibson trade.
Best Betting Value To Trade For Henry
There are five teams with better odds of acquiring Henry than the Ravens, but none of them make as much sense as the Ravens. Baltimore is in a championship window and could use additional help in the backfield. The Ravens have already lost J.K. Dobbins for the season due to an injury and rely on 28-year-old Gus Edwards to lead their backfield.
Edwards has been a really solid player for the Ravens this year and throughout his career. But he has had some issues staying on the field. Adding Henry would allow Edwards to return to a complementary role and Justice Hill could stay on the field as the passing-down back.
The Ravens have one of the best offenses in the NFL this season, but adding a power back like Henry would make them even more difficult to defend. They could use him more on short-yardage and goal-line situation to help shoulder some of the load off Lamar Jackson. At 9-1, the Ravens are the best bet on the board because they make the most sense for Henry of all the teams listed above.
Which Team Will Land Derrick Henry In Possible Trade?
For all the above reasons, the Ravens are the team most likely to land Henry. He’s an incredible fit in their offense and it wouldn’t be hard to get him 14-16 rushing attempts per game alongside Edwards and Hill.
Their offense could use more size at running back, especially considering the division that they play in. As the weather turns, having an excellent short-yardage back like Henry could be the difference in some of their AFC North matchups.
The only question is how much it would take for the Ravens to acquire Henry. It would probably cost Baltimore a late-round pick with some future incentives. Tennessee might have to take on some of his salary, but that shouldn’t be an issue.
If that’s the case, Baltimore should jump right on that as they have a chance to make a run in the AFC this season and adding Henry would only improve their odds.
