Shane van Gisbergen | +1400 |
Riley Herbst | +2000 |
26-year-old Cole Custer is favored to win the 2024 Xfinity Series Championship at NASCAR betting sites. With +300 odds, Custer has an implied probability of 25 percent to win the Xfinity Series title. Last season, the former Cup Series driver captured his first championship in the Xfinity Series.
Veteran Justin Allgaier, who was in contention against Custer in the Championship 4, has the second-best 2024 Xfinity Series odds. One of the most interesting Xfinity drivers this season has to be 34-year-old Shan van Gisbergen.
After winning the Cup Series Chicago Street Race, van Gisbergen earned a full-time ride in the Xfinity Series. We’ll see how van Gisbergen handles ovals after having little experience on these tracks. At +1400 odds, the native of Auckland, New Zealand, and Supercars specialist has the ninth-best odds of winning it all.

Xfinity Series Championship Favorites
Let’s dive into the favorites to win the Xfinity Series Championship below:
Cole Custer (+300)
COLE CUSTER #00 | 2023 STATS |
---|---|
Team | Stewart-Haas Racing |
Car | Ford Mustang |
Crew Chief | Jonathan Toney |
Ranking | 1st |
Wins | 3 |
Avg. Finish | 10.8 |
Top 5 | 14 |
Top 10 | 21 |
Poles | 6 |
Laps Led | 586 |
Custer made his return to the Xfinity Series in 2023 after failing to catch a ride in the Cup Series. Despite likely feeling disappointed being demoted back to the Xfinity Series, Custer made the best out of his opportunity.
He fended off Allgaier in the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway to clinch the Xfinity Series title. After gaining experience in the Cup Series, Custer wasn’t intimidated against the Xfinity Series field.
Custer didn’t lead in Top 5 or Top 10 finishes, but he was clutch when required to be in the Xfinity Series Playoffs. Custer’s average finish of 10.8 was second in the Xfinity Series, only trailing Allgaier, who fought to the end against Custer at Phoenix Raceway in 2023.
The advantage that Custer had over the rest of the field was his impressive ability to find the pole. He led the Xfinity Series, with six appearances in pole position1. This helped him to the third-most laps led this past season.
Custer may never find his way back to the Cup Series as a full-time driver. However, he can find plenty of success versus Xfinity Series drivers in his career. If he wants to compete for championships, the Xfinity Series is the perfect place for him.
Justin Allgaier (+350)
JUSTIN ALLGAIER #7 | 2023 STATS |
---|---|
Team | JR Motorsports |
Car | Chevrolet Camaro |
Crew Chief | Jim Pohlman |
Ranking | 2nd |
Wins | 4 |
Avg. Finish | 10.6 |
Top 5 | 20 |
Top 10 | 28 |
Poles | 4 |
Laps Led | 643 |
Allgaier should be a popular pick to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship. He was one of the most consistent drivers last season. Allgaier did everything he could but beat Custer in the final race. A similar effort this season could result in Allgaier earning his first Xfinity Series title.
Allgaier should have all the tools to make a return to the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs and get back to the Championship 4. For the driver that had an average finishing position of 10.6 for the best mark in the Xfinity Series, it’s difficult to discount what Allgaier can do in the #7 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports in 2023.
Also, Allgaier was first in stage wins and second in laps led2. For the 37-year-old veteran of the sport, he shouldn’t experience any sort of serious regression this season. Expect him to have another fast car, and Allgaier certainly has the talent to compete in the Xfinity Series.
Sam Mayer (+600)
SAM MAYER #1 | 2023 STATS |
---|---|
Team | JR Motorsports |
Car | Chevrolet Camaro |
Crew Chief | Mardy Lindley |
Ranking | 3rd |
Wins | 4 |
Avg. Finish | 13.2 |
Top 5 | 13 |
Top 10 | 19 |
Poles | 1 |
Laps Led | 177 |
The 20-year-old native of Franklin, Wisconsin, is one of the youngest drivers competing in the Xfinity Series. However, that didn’t stop him from taking a run at the championship.
Sam Mayer finished an impressive third in just his second season as a full-time Xfinity Series driver. He moved up in the standings from seventh to third, both seasons with JR Motorsports.
Additionally, Mayer improved from 2,231 points to 4,032 points in one season. And, despite finishing with seven DNFs, he still won four races. That was good for a three-way tie with Allgaier and Austin Hill.
Due to the seven DNFs, which was three more than Allgaier and five more than Custer, Mayer had an average finishing position of 13.2. Also, he led fewer laps than his primary rivals, with 177.
Having said that, Mayer’s reliability in the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro should take a step forward. With another year of experience on his resume, Mayer and his team are likely to avoid as many DNFs as last season.
Finishing more races will undoubtedly give his numbers a solid boost from last season. After going from seven to third in one season, expect another leap for the 20-year-old in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Best NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Betting Value
After much research and handicapping, Austin Hill (+900) is our best value bet to win the 2024 Xfinity Series Championship:
AUSTIN HILL #21 | 2023 STATS |
---|---|
Team | Richard Childress Racing |
Car | Chevrolet Camaro |
Crew Chief | Andy Street |
Ranking | 5th |
Wins | 4 |
Avg. Finish | 9 |
Top 5 | 16 |
Top 10 | 24 |
Poles | 4 |
Laps Led | 347 |
At +900 odds, the 29-year-old driver of the No. 21 Chevrolet Camaro for Richard Childress is getting plenty of value. Hill had a great 2023 campaign in his second season racing for Richard Childress.
He didn’t show incredible gains from sixth to fifth, but Hill moved one place closer to reaching the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs. If Hill stays the course, he should have a standout chance to get there this season.
Hill concluded the 2023 season with an average finishing position of 9.0. It’s worth noting that this is better than all four drivers that made the Championship 4. In fact, it was the best average finish out of any driver in the Xfinity Series.
Furthermore, Hill was tied with John Hunter Nemechek for the most Top 10 performances. Hunter Nemechek has since been promoted to the Cup Series, so that is one less talented driver to worry about for a berth in the Championship 4.
In 2023, keep an eye on this Richard Childress car. Hill could very well win it all as somewhat of a dark horse. He is getting tremendous betting value to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship.
Best NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Longshot Pick
24-year-old Riley Herbst (+2000) is our leading longshot pick to win the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship:
RILEY HERBST #98 | 2023 STATS |
---|---|
Team | Stewart-Haas Racing |
Car | Ford Mustang |
Crew Chief | Davin Restivo |
Ranking | 13th |
Wins | 1 |
Avg. Finish | 14.9 |
Top 5 | 10 |
Top 10 | 21 |
Poles | 0 |
Laps Led | 346 |
If you are looking for a longshot driver to win, look no further than Riley Herbst’s Xfinity Series odds. The 24-year-old from Las Vegas is entering the fourth season of his career with Stewart-Haas Racing.
In three seasons, Herbst has finished 12th, 11th, 10th, and 13th in four seasons. Now, the 2017 ARCA Rookie of the Year must take a step forward and get into a position to make the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs.
At times, Herbst has looked like a Top 5 driver in the Xfinity Series. With an average starting position of 10.4, he’s never been a bad qualifier and has a capable car. His average starting position of 10.4 was better than Mayer and Daniel Hemric, who both finished inside the Top 10.
Herbst also secured 10 finishes in the Top 5 and had two stage wins and one overall victory. Like Mayer, DNFs were a common occurrence for him, though. He had seven, which prevented him from advancing any further for a shot at the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs.
If Herbst can turn three of those DNFs into Top 5 performances, he is going to be in business this season. At +2000, Herbst is worth a small play to win the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series.
NASCAR Xfinity Championship Predictions
Look for Mayer to take another leap forward in his development with JR Motorsports. After going from seventh to third in the Xfinity Series standings, Mayer is poised to make the next step.
At only 20 years old, he has shown huge progress as one of the youngest drivers in the Xfinity Series. Last season, the only concern with Mayer was his seven DNFs. However, as young drivers tend to gain experience, they improve in that regard.
We suspect that Mayer will show strides forward in reliability and ability to stay on the racetrack. If that’s fixed, expect Mayer to post some of the best results this season in the Xfinity Series.
Additionally, we are getting plenty of value on Mayer. For our Xfinity Series predictions, Mayer is our top bet to win in 2024.
Who Won Last Year’s NASCAR Xfinity Championship?
Cole Custer is the reigning NASCAR Xfinity champion. He finished with a total of 4,040 points to beat Allgaier by six.
