The 2024-2025 College Football Championship odds show that the SEC and the Big Ten are still the dominant conferences when it comes to winning the national title. However, the ACC has an outside chance of putting a team in the title game. Which schools will emerge from the College Football Playoff, which is set to kick off December 20 and 21, 2024? I’ll explore the college football national title odds in this article, with a look at the favorites and a couple of sleeper teams that offer betting value. Then, at the end of this article, I’ll give you my CFP championship predictions!

Tennessee Volunteers+1200
Clemson Tigers+1400
Penn State Nittany Lions+1400
Alabama Crimson Tide+1800
Miami Hurricanes+1800
Texas A&M Aggies+2500

After dropping out of the top spot at college football betting sites, the Georgia Bulldogs (+350) are again favored to win the 2024 CFP National Championship. According to the latest CFP odds, Georgia has an implied probability to win of 22.2% at college football betting sites.

After losing to Alabama earlier in the season, and Texas’ steady rise, Georgia dropped out of the favorite spot. The Bulldogs entered the season as the favorites to win, so they’re back where they started.

The Texas Longhorns (+500) are currently tied with the Ohio State Buckeyes (+500) for the third-shortest odds to win the National Championship.

In Tuscaloosa, the Alabama Crimson Tide (+1800) have nearly fallen off the board since defeating the Bulldogs. They’ve suffered two losses and have come close to experiencing a third and fourth loss. The biggest risers have been the Oregon Ducks (+450), who currently have an 18.2% implied chance to win the national title!

Odds to Win College Football National Championship – Favorites

Let’s kick things off by taking a look at the favorites to come out on top in the CFP Playoff.

Georgia Bulldogs (+350)

After dropping in the national rankings and CFP Championship odds slipped, the Georgia Bulldogs (6-1) are back on top on sports betting sites. In the first week of October, Georgia was behind Ohio State and Oregon in the national title betting markets.

The Bulldogs are perfect in three consecutive games after a 41-34 loss to the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. Since then, Georgia hasn’t lost in three games, while Alabama hasn’t looked the same.

Despite a three-interception game from QB Carson Beck against Texas, the defense smothered the Longhorns in a 30-15 win. Much was expected out of Beck this season, but he’s been undependable with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

It’s a good sign when the Bulldogs can win by two touchdowns over the previous No. 1 team in the country without Beck in form. However, a couple of mishaps from their defense earlier in the season have them 30th in the FBS with 333.3 yards allowed per game.

The Bulldogs are 19th with 19.2 points against per game. Two weeks after Alabama beat Georgia, Mississippi State rolled over Georgia’s defense for 31 points.

Aside from the Texas game, Georgia has not looked like the vaunted defense we’ve become accustomed to in Athens. Beck can be inconsistent, too, but they are still the most complete team in the country.

Oregon Ducks (+450)

The Oregon Ducks (8-0) are off to a flawless start in their first season in the Big Ten. They’ve proven themselves against elite competition, as well. On October 12, the Ducks edged out the Buckeyes for a 32-31 signature win at Autzen Stadium.

Oregon was able to avoid a letdown with a 35-0 win over Purdue and 38-9 over Illinois. The offense is humming with QB Dillon Gabriel and RB Jordan James leading the Ducks to 464.4 yards per game. Gabriel has passed for 2,371 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

He’s in the Heisman Trophy conversation as the current betting favorite. If Oregon keeps winning games, it’s unlikely that Gabriel will lose his top spot for the Heisman. In addition to the offense, the defense has been fantastic for the Ducks.

They are getting contributions at all levels, and 14th in the FBS with 308.7 yards against per game. Additionally, the Ducks are in the top 10, allowing 15.9 points per game this season. Oregon can get it done with their defense or offense against any opponent.

However, in a rematch against Ohio State, could they win again? Oregon’s strength of schedule for the remainder of the season doesn’t include one ranked team, so expect they will likely be favored for the rest of the regular season.

Oregon will not be tested again until the playoffs, which could be a problem.

Ohio State Buckeyes (+500)

The Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1) have suffered some blows but are still regarded as one of the top teams in college football. Ohio State’s only loss on the schedule is a one-point defeat against the Ducks.

If they had a key play or two go their way, we’re talking about Ohio State beating Oregon at Autzen — a place where no opponents win. Oregon gets big kudos for the win, but it wasn’t a bad performance for Ohio State in a hostile environment.

The Buckeyes will return to a hostile environment with a matchup coming up against the Penn State Nittany Lions. It’s a colossal matchup for Ohio State, but they can still make the playoffs with a loss.

Ohio State ranks second in points against per game with 11.9. Also, the Buckeyes have yielded 255.1 yards per game — again good for second in the FBS. The defense is equally stout in the trenches and the secondary. A rematch against Oregon on a neutral field and you could argue that would have had a much different result.

QB Will Howard has been efficient for the Buckeyes. The 23-year-old K-State transfer holds 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 1,795 yards passing. He has completed 74% of his passes while rushing for 91 yards and five scores on the ground.

The veteran leader has helped lead the Buckeyes to 472 yards per game for seventh in the country! They don’t have the easiest schedule remaining, but should gather up plenty of confidence by beating Michigan in “The Game”.

However, head coach Ryan Day has been terrible against top teams, with five straight losses to teams ranked in the top 5.

This is a talented team, but Day is scaring me away from being more confident in their national title chance!

Texas Longhorns (+500)

The Texas Longhorns (7-1) are coming off their first loss of the season in a 30-15 loss to the superior Georgia Bulldogs. Texas’ 2024-25 College Football National Championship odds give them a reasonable chance to win the title.

However, I’m still waiting for a signature victory from Texas. No, wins against Oklahoma and Michigan aren’t anything to get excited about this season, as both teams are having a down season in 2024.

QB Quinn Ewers has largely been solid, but not the same quarterback since returning from an injury. Ewers’ numbers have been respectable, with 1,389 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and six interceptions on 69.1% completions.

The offense can be hit-and-miss, but the defense has proven to be elite. They are second in the nation against the pass and have a slight edge on Ohio State to lead the country with 135.8 yards conceded per game!

However, I haven’t seen him perform in the clutch yet. Georgia’s defense was able to limit the Texas offense to 15 points. Following the loss to Georgia, the Longhorns survived in a close call against Vanderbilt, 27-24. They should cruise until a tough matchup against Texas A&M in the regular season finale.

Sleepers for the 2024-25 College Football Championship Odds

1. Penn State (+1400)

The Nittany Lions are ranked third in the country behind Georgia and Oregon, but they’re trailing a bit in the NCAA football championship odds. However, the Nittany Lions get the nod from me over Alabama (+1800), who lost at Vanderbilt after beating Georgia. Alabama barely beat South Carolina at home, though responded with a 24-17 loss to Tennessee.

Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions are 7-0 after a big 33-30 comeback win at USC in overtime and 28-13 most recently over Wisconsin. In the USC matchup, Penn State was down 20-6 at halftime, but battled back and won with a 36-yard field goal from Ryan Barker in the extra period.

But the game belonged to Tyler Warren, who tied the record for catches by a tight end in a game with 17! Warren had 224 yards and a touchdown, and he also completed a pass for nine yards, in which he started the play by snapping the ball.

The Nittany Lions host Ohio State on November 2, and a win there would put them in pole position to play in the Big Ten title game. Penn State is putting together a solid campaign, ranking 11th in total offense, and fourth in total defense. But the Ohio State game will give us a better understanding of Penn State’s chances to win the CFP in 2024-2025.

Nevertheless, at +1400, Penn State is well worth considering for your best college football championship bets!

2. Miami Hurricanes (+1800)

The Hurricanes have advanced to 8-0 and are confident in their chances to play spoiler in the College Football Playoff. They are coming off a 36-14 win over the Florida State Seminoles on October 26.

QB Cam Ward has been outrageous on the football field for Miami. With 2,746 passing yards, Ward is second in the FBS in total yardage through the air this season.

He is also second with 24 passing touchdowns in 2024. Ward has spearheaded the top offensive team in the country to a clip of 562.4 yards per game!

The Hurricanes could run the table in the ACC as they don’t play a team that is currently ranked for the rest of the season. The defense, while ranked 17th in the country, has shown some bad habits in recent weeks.

But with Ward at the helm, the Hurricanes always have a shot to win, and their college football championship odds offer some great betting value!

2024-2025 National Championship Prediction and Betting Pick

The first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff will likely produce some crazy results. It’s expected to be a wide-open tournament between fairly equal schools talent-wise. However, when it comes down to it, Georgia remains the team to beat in college football.

They proved this with their 15-point win over Texas. Beck threw three interceptions, and the Bulldogs still cleared the Longhorns without too many issues! If Beck can settle in and find his stroke at the right time in the playoffs, Georgia will be in business.

Note that the Bulldogs are first in the FBS in Strength of Schedule and Strength of Record rank this season. While Texas and Ohio State are still searching for a signature win, Georgia is facing the toughest schedule in college football. They should be battle-tested come January.

Also, there isn’t another better head coach in the nation than Kirby Smart in big games with Nick Saban retired. Georgia for your best NCAAF National Championship picks looks like the right side at offshore sportsbooks!
