World Series 2024 Betting Odds: Yankees vs. Dodgers

The best MLB betting sites have a variety of baseball World Series odds to dig into this October. Whether you want to bet on prop bets, NRFI, match odds, live betting, and more, Bovada has bettors covered for the Fall Classic.

I will cover the main markets here, including the World Series MVP odds and my predictions for the World Series.

World Series 2024 Winner Odds

The following World Series betting odds are courtesy of Bovada:

    • Los Angeles Dodgers (-125)
    • New York Yankees (+105)

The Los Angeles Dodgers (-125) are favored to win the 2024 World Series. According to the latest prices, the Dodgers have an implied chance to win of 55.6%! Laying -125 odds on the Dodgers means bettors must wager $125 to win $100.

Conversely, the New York Yankees (+105) are the underdogs heading into Game 1 of the 2024 World Series. As the underdog, back the Yankees at +105 for a $105 return on a $100 wager!

World Series MVP Odds

    • Shohei Ohtani, LAD (+200)
    • Aaron Judge, NYY (+450)
    • Juan Soto, NYY (+500)
    • Mookie Betts, LAD (+750)
    • Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (+900)
    • Max Muncy, NYY (+1600)

The Dodgers’ phenom Shohei Ohtani (+200) is the betting favorite to win World Series MVP. He has an implied probability of capturing MVP of 33.3%. Since the Dodgers are favored to win the World Series, seeing their best player favored to win MVP isn’t a surprise.

Ohtani led the National League in home runs; on the other side in the American League, Aaron Judge (+450) led in long balls. At +450, Judge has the shortest price to win on the Yankees, with an implied chance of 18.2%.

Juan Soto  isn’t far off from Judge at +500, but the next closest Dodger to Ohtani is Mookie Betts with +750 World Series MVP odds at Bovada!

Los Angeles Dodgers (-125)

The Dodgers are heading back to the World Series for the first time since winning the shortened Covid-19 campaign in 2020. It was the Dodgers’ most recent title since capturing the World Series in 1988, so a long time coming in Los Angeles.

With that in mind, this would be the Dodgers’ first full-season championship in 36 years! Are they ready to fulfill their mission and beat the Yankees? Per the latest World Series 2024 betting odds, they are more than capable of pulling it off.

Journey to the World Series

The Dodgers’ journey to the 2024 World Series started with the signing of Ohtani. On December 11, 2023, the Dodgers made it official that he would be joining the franchise on a 10-year, $700 million contract.

How did Ohtani repay the Dodgers? The 30-year-old Japanese slugger became the first player in MLB history to join the 50/50 club. Ohtani belted 54 home runs and swiped 59 stolen bases. He also hit .310 and logged 130 RBIs.

The Dodgers went 98-64 in the regular season and won the NL West by five games over the Padres. They had the privilege of bypassing the Wild Card and then proceeded to edge out the Padres narrowly in five games in the NLDS.

Ohtani and company had to overcome a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Padres in the best-of-five series. The Dodgers finished off the New York Mets in the NLCS in six games to prevent a Subway Series championship. They pummeled the Mets into submission for a 10-5 victory in Game 6.

Batting

The Dodgers bring a healthy and dangerous lineup into the World Series. Along with Ohtani, there are several power bats at their disposal. Mookie Betts leads the Dodgers in the postseason with four home runs at the dish.

He and shortstop Tommy Edman are in a tie with 12 RBIs apiece. Edman was the surprising winner of the NLCS MVP award this season! He is batting .341 with 12 RBIs and a home run. The former Cardinal went deep for a clutch bomb in Game 6 of the NLCS.

The Dodgers rank first in the postseason in home runs (20), RBIs (66), and stolen bases (11). The New York clubs are tied for second in home runs with 13, so it’s not even close: the Dodgers have been the deadliest team so far.

Pitching

While the offense has been blistering hot, the Dodgers’ starting pitching hasn’t been as great as you would expect. Their starting rotation is thin, with manager Dave Roberts having to rely on bullpen games at times this postseason.

Ohtani intended to be a two-way player this season. However, an injured elbow ligament prevented him from pitching. It might finally catch up to them in the postseason. The Dodgers’ pitching staff owns an ERA of 4.36 for the ninth-best mark in October.

The Dodgers are loaded with right-handed pitching. Starters Jack Flaherty, Walker Buehler, and Yamamoto are all righties. Not ideal against a Yankees’ offense destroying right-handed pitching this postseason.

New York Yankees (+105)

It has been 14 years since the Yankees won their 27th World Series in six games over the Phillies. A lot has changed since then, but the Yankees have a stacked squad similar to that 2009 roster.

The Yankees might be the underdogs; however, they certainly didn’t play like one in the ALDS and ALCS.

Journey to the World Series

The Yankees won the AL East with a record of 94-68 and three games over the Baltimore Orioles. They didn’t finish strong in the final week, though they answered the call as soon as the postseason opened.

Aaron Boone’s side is 7-2 in the postseason, with wins over the Royals in four games and then a five-game victory against the Guardians in the ALCS. The Yankees have never come this close to winning the World Series in the Judge era.

They’ve looked the part in the past but never overcame postseason woes. It’s been a different situation this season, as the Yankees finally breakthrough in the American League. Judge is a shoo-in for the AL MVP, so he will be taking on the unquestioned MVP of the NL in Ohtani in the World Series!

Batting

The Bronx Bombers are well-equipped to hang with the Dodgers offensively. Along with Judge, the Yankees had another MVP in Soto. If Judge wasn’t in the American League, it’s reasonable to assume that Soto would win AL MVP.

Judge pumped 58 balls out of the park while hitting .322 with 144 RBIs. With Soto recording 41 home runs, they were one home run away from 100 long balls between two players!

On top of that, Giancarlo Stanton has gotten red-hot to lead the Yankees in home runs in the postseason. He has notched five home runs to go along with three for Soto and two Judge home runs.

The Yankees can win the World Series with their offense. They are 7-0 against right-handed starters and the top regular season record in the Majors versus righties.

Soto has hit 28 home runs with a .293 average against right-handed pitching! I think you can make a big argument for Soto and his World Series MVP odds at +500.

Pitching

The Yankees’ pitching staff ranks fourth in the postseason with an ERA of 3.27. Not the best, but markedly stronger than the Dodgers. Carlos Rodon, Gerrit Cole, and Clarke Schmidt have made for a solid trio in the rotation.

All three starters have yielded two or fewer earned runs in their last two starts. Schmidt has been a bit of an X-factor for the Yankees. He doesn’t have the name recognition as Rodon and Cole but has played a significant role as the No. 3 starter.

Combined with the regular season, the Yankees have a top-10 pitching staff regarding ERA. They hold a 3.72 ERA compared to a 3.93 ERA and 14th for the Dodgers.

World Series 2024 Predictions and Best Bets

Let’s conclude our 2024 World Series betting preview with my best bets to win the title and MVP.

2024 World Series Winner Prediction and Betting Pick

The odds to win the 2024 World Series favor the Dodgers, but the value is on the Yankees at sports betting sites. There is an argument to be made for both sides in this matchup. Laying -125 odds on the Dodgers in such an even series isn’t the best World Series bet.

As I stated, the Yankees are 7-0 against righties in the postseason. There wasn’t another club in the regular season with a better record than them against right-handed starters. The Dodgers don’t have a lefty listed among their top three postseason pitchers.

Clearly, Ohtani and the Dodgers will give the Yankees issues. This isn’t going to be a short series. However, I have faith in Judge and the Yankees’ bats prevailing. Also, I prefer their pitching staff over the Dodgers, which should prove to be the difference!

For my MLB World Series prediction, I am backing the Yankees as a small underdog at Bovada!

2024 World Series MVP Prediction

Stanton turned up the heat in the ALCS. He played an integral role in the Yankees getting past the Guardians. However, will the break between the ALCS cool off his bat?

With Soto’s success against righties this season, and his arm in the outfield, he is set to have a huge World Series. Judge is winning the AL MVP for the regular season, but his running mate is in the driver’s seat for the World Series MVP award.

MLB betting on the World Series MVP requires a balance of probability and value. At +500, Soto has an implied chance to win of 16.7%. I afford Soto roughly a 20% opportunity to win, so there is solid betting value here to capture the World Series MVP!
