Men’s Ski Knuckle Huck
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Alex Hall | +200 |
Colby Stevenson | +200 |
Jesper Tjader | -200 |
Swedish skiing daredevil Jesper Tjader has made a name for himself over the last decade. The 29-year-old Swede has impressed in competition and his freestyle tricks on rails.
What we are most impressed with is how much Tjader has improved as a competitor since his first Olympic appearance 10 years ago. Finishing 24th at the Sochi games in slopestyle, Tjader grabbed the bronze medal at the 2022 Winter games in Beijing and has eight World Cup podium finishes.
Tjader is the defending X Games Knuckle Huck champ. This is the event where he is at his best. With Tjader in the best form of his career right now, expect Tjader to defend his title in Aspen.
Men’s Ski Slopestyle
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Birk Ruud | +500 |
Jesper Tjader | +400 |
Alex Hall | +325 |
Andri Ragettli | +200 |
Colby Stevenson | +150 |
In addition to Ski Knuckle Huck, Alex Hall, Colby Stevenson, and Tjader are participating in the Ski Slopestyle competition. Tjader has a solid chance for a podium performance, but Andri Ragettli and Colby Stevenson are likely to shine.
Expect a duel between Stevenson, the defending X Games Ski Slopestyle champ, and four-time Crystal Globe slopestyle winner, Andri Ragettli. Also, Ragettli is the 2022 X Games Ski Slopestyle titleholder.
Stevenson, 26, and Ragettli, 25, should go down to the wire on the slopestyle course. This will be a must-watch event. That said, at +200, Switzerland’s Ragettli is the better value play to win.
Men’s Ski SuperPipe
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Brendan Mackay | +500 |
Alex Ferreira | +400 |
Birk Irving | +325 |
Nico Porteous | +200 |
David Wise | +200 |
In another highly competitive event, the Ski SuperPipe should be a thriller on the men’s side. New Zealand’s Nico Porteous and American David Wise are expected to produce fireworks.
Don’t discount Birk Irving sneaking up on both of them, but a battle between the youngster from New Zealand and a wily veteran from Reno, Nevada. Wise has collected four gold medals at the X Games, including the SuperPipe competition in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2023.
Also, Wise has an impressive Olympic resume, with a gold in the halfpipe at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. He brought home the silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Porteous captured gold in the SuperPipe at the 2021 and 2022 X Games. He’s also the gold medalist in the same event at Beijing 2022.
Porteous has only grown more since his gold-medal effort in 2022. It will be close, but Porteous is a great value at +200 odds.
Men’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Zeb Powell | +400 |
Dusty Henricksen | +325 |
Marcus Kleveland | -300 |
The men’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck should be more lopsided than the Ski Knuckle Huck. 24-year-old Norwegian snowboarder Marcus Kleveland is shaping up for a big-time performance at Buttermilk Ski Resort.
The 13-time X Games medalist has already etched out a prolific career. Along with being the first snowboarder to successfully land a quad cork 1080 in competition, Kleveland has two world titles to his name.
Kleveland has won Knuckle Huck titles in 2020, 2022, and 2023. In the absence of a serious challenger, expect Kleveland to bypass Dusty Henricksen and Zeb Powell relatively easily.
Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Sven Thorgen | +500 |
Yiming Su | +500 |
Dusty Henricksen | +400 |
Mark McMorris | +175 |
Marcus Kleveland | -105 |
There is a chance that Kleveland will win up to three gold medals at X Games Aspen 2024. Canadian veteran snowboarder Mark McMorris could be the one to disrupt his plans.
Last year, the 30-year-old McMorris became the X Games record-holder with 22 medals. He notched the record in style, with a gold medal in the X Games Snowboard Slopestyle event. Also, McMorris has won three straight bronze medals in slopestyle at the Winter Olympics3.
McMorris doesn’t have a great chance at Big Air gold, but this is certainly attainable. At +175, McMorris is a sharp bet in Snowboard Slopestyle.
Men’s Snowboard SuperPipe
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Kaishu Hirano | +500 |
Ruka Hirano | +500 |
Jan Scherrer | +400 |
Ayumu Hirano | +300 |
Scotty James | -140 |
The Hirano brothers return to the X Games looking for one step up on the podium. Last year, Japan’s Ayumu and Kaishu finished 2nd and 3rd on the podium at X Games Aspen 20224.
Aussie Scotty James picked up the gold medal and his back for more glory in the halfpipe at the X Games. The 29-year-old native of East Melbourne is a four-time Olympian, with a bronze at the 2018 Winter Olympics and a silver at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Since 2017, James has captured gold in Aspen five times. Ayumu should show gains from last season, but he likely falls short of the talented Aussie. James, at -140, is one of the better bets on the board.
Men’s Big Ski Air
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Troy Podmilsak | +600 |
Matej Svancer | +400 |
Birk Ruud | +325 |
Alex Hall | +325 |
Mac Forehand | +150 |
There is some serious hardware between Ruud, Hall, and Mac Forehand in the Big Ski Air event. Ruud won Big Ski Air gold medals in 2018 and 2019. Hall’s resume includes golds in 2019 (Norway) and 2022.
Mac Forehand is the defending Big Ski Air gold medalist in Aspen. However, are Ruud and Hall as far behind Forehand as the X Games odds suggest? Hall, in particular, likely has a better chance than +325.
The 25-year-old native of Fairbanks, Alaska, should be motivated to get back atop the podium after failing to defend his title last year. In such a wide-open event, Hall is the best play at +325 odds.
Men’s Snowboard Big Air
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Taiga Hasegawa | +600 |
Yiming Su | +550 |
Takeru Otsuka | +500 |
Mark McMorris | +325 |
Marcus Kleveland | -245 |
Kleveland is well-positioned to win medals in two other events. The McMorris vs. Kleveland rivalry carries over from the slopestyle course to the high altitude of the Snowboard Big Air competition.
McMorris has a solid chance to win slopestyle gold, but Kleveland’s versatility should be on full display through the air. Kleveland is the defending Snowboard Big Air champ in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The Norwegian should have the upper hand this round in this round between two of the most accomplished X Games athletes of all time.
Women’s Ski Big Air
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Sarah Hoefflin | +600 |
Mathilde Gremaud | +300 |
Megan Oldham | +175 |
Tess Ledeux | +150 |
Moving on to the women’s X Games competitions, we get started with a competitive showdown in the Ski Big Air event. Megan Oldham and Tess Ledeux are set to duel on Buttermilk Mountain.
Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud should be able to enter the fray, too. The way we see it, Oldham and Ledeux are the skiers to beat here, though. Oldham is a Canadian skier specializing in slopestyle and the big air disciplines.
She is coming off an incredibly efficient performance at X Games Aspen 2023 — winning the gold in the Ski Big Air and Ski Slopestyle events. Additionally, Oldham won the silver medal in Ski Big Air in 2021 and 2022.
She finished second to Ledeux in 2022. Also, France’s Ledeux won gold at the X Games in 2019 (Norway) and 2020. In this spot, you have to side with the better odds. Expect a close competition, with Oldham a solid bet at +175 odds.
Women’s Snowboard Big Air
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Mia Brookes | +600 |
Kokomo Murase | +400 |
Zoi Sadowski-Synnott | +300 |
Reira Iwabuchi | +300 |
Anna Gasser | +125 |
In the snowboarding program of Big Air, we see Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Anna Gasser excelling over their rivals. In all likelihood, Gasser should have enough in the tank to take home her third X Games gold medal.
The 32-year-old native of Austria’s greatest accomplishments came in 2018, 2022 and 2023. In 2022, Gasser successfully defended her gold from 2018 at the Beijing Olympics. One year later, she captured the gold medal at the World Championships in Big Air.
In her current form, Gasser likely has a couple of more good years in her. Currently, there are no signs of her slowing down. X Games Aspen 2024 looks like another gold medal for Gasser.
Women’s Ski Knuckle Huck
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Rell Harwood | +200 |
Taylor Lundquist | +200 |
Olivia Asselin | +175 |
Barring injuries, 19-year-old Olivia Asselin is well on her way to carving out an incredible career. After earning bronze in Ski Big Air at X Games Aspen 2022, Asselin is putting most of her attention into the Ski Knuckle Huck competition.
While Asselin has big air and slopestyle talent, the X Games’ Ski Knuckle Huck event is the perfect competition for her skill set. The experience she gained at the Beijing Olympics should be invaluable to X Games Aspen 2024.
Look for the native of Quebec City to grab another medal for Canada in the Ski Knuckle Huck event.
Women’s Ski Slopestyle
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Sarah Hoefflin | +400 |
Eileen Gu | +200 |
Mathilde Gremaud | +200 |
Megan Oldham | +150 |
Eileen Gu will garner the most attention in the women’s Ski Slopestyle. The American-born Chinese skier made her Olympic debut at Beijing 2022. She didn’t disappoint, with gold medals in Big Air and dominated in the halfpipe.
Gu came up short in Olympic Slopestyle, but had a solid performance to earn her third medal of the Olympic Games with a silver. We expect the 20-year-old to put together a strong bid at X Games Aspen 2024.
That said, the defending gold medalist at the X Games stands firmly in her path. Oldham promises to offer resistance, but Gu should flourish in another major slopestyle competition. At +200, Gu is the top bet on the board.
Women’s Ski SuperPipe
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Svea Irving | +500 |
Hanna Faulhaber | +500 |
Rachael Karker | +325 |
Eileen Gu | +250 |
Zoe Atkin | +175 |
Zoe Atkin returns to the halfpipe to defend her Ski SuperPipe title from X Games Aspen 2023. Last year, Atkin didn’t have to concern herself with the Olympic gold medalist. Gu did not participate, while Atkin cruised to gold over Rachael Karker.
Gu’s participation makes this year a tougher draw for Atkin. The 21-year-old British-American Atkin has a promising future that likely includes Olympic medals. In 2022, Atkin struggled under the pressure and finished ninth at Beijing 2022.
In a rematch versus Gu, look for Atkin to be much more competitive. Nonetheless, the value is with the Olympic gold medalist at this price. It’s a toss-up between Gu and Atkin, with the +250 odds the stronger option on Gu.
Women’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Ylfa Runarsdottir | +250 |
Annika Morgan | +175 |
Mia Brookes | +175 |
One of the most competitive events at X Games 2024 has to be the women’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck. There isn’t a clear favorite in this competition.
With that said, Mia Brookes should have the biggest upside. There is some concern due to her inexperience as just a 17-year-old, but she was winning gold medals at 16.
In 2023, Brookes won the World Championships Slopestyle gold medal in Bakuriani. Over the next few years, she is going to add several more medals to her total.
If anything, her young age is allowing us to get strong value on Brookes. At +175, consider siding with this rising star at the Aspen X Games.
Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Mia Brookes | +600 |
Tess Coady | +500 |
Reira Iwabuchi | +450 |
Anna Gasser | +400 |
Zoi Sadowski-Synnott | -250 |
As a longshot, Brookes is once again worth a look. But, for one of our final X Games predictions, Kiwi snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott will be too tough in the Snowboard Slopestyle competition.
At only 22 years old, Sadkowski-Synnott has already collected five gold medals at the X Games. Sadkowski-Synnot won gold in the X Games’ Snowboard Slopestyle in 2019, 2020 (Norway), 2022, and 2023.
Additionally, the Australian-born Sadkowski-Synnott captured gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. If she doesn’t show up to Aspen prepared, there will be an opening for an upset. Otherwise, Sadowski-Synnott is expected to cruise to a win.
Women’s Snowboard SuperPipe
ATHLETE | ODDS |
---|---|
Mitsuki Ono | +700 |
Xuetong Cai | +600 |
Maddie Mastro | +600 |
Gaon Choi | +220 |
Chloe Kim | -215 |
Long Beach, California, native Chloe Kim is predictably the betting favorite to win the women’s Snowboard SuperPipe gold medal. Six years after she became the youngest women snowboarder to win Olympic gold at 17, Kim is still racking up the medals.
In 2022, Kim defended her gold medal at the Beijing Olympics behind a stellar run. Also, she has been a well-established winner at the X Games.
Kim has grabbed the gold medal in Snowboard SuperPipe in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021. Furthermore, the 23-year-old has captured gold at the World Championships in 2019 and 2021.
At the 2016 U.S. Grand Prix, Kim became the first woman to land back-to-back 1080s in competition and a perfect score. She joined Shaun White as the only snowboarder to record a score of 100 in the halfpipe5.
We are confident that Kim will shine in an event that she has dominated for more than five years. She remains in her prime and shouldn’t regress yet. Gaon Choi will give Kim a run for her money, but the American halfpipe phenom holds on.
