Woods has enjoyed immense success at Augusta National in his career. He’s won four green jackets in the following years: 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2019. The veteran remains one Masters title away from tying Jack Nicklaus’ record of six green jackets.
The 48-year-old golfing legend has made the cut in an incredible 24 out of 25 events! The last time Woods missed the cut at the Masters was way back in his second appearance in 19961. Last year, Woods just barely made the cut, and then had to withdraw after completing seven holes in the third round.
Woods had a fairly strong showing at the 2023 Hero World Challenge months later in December. He made the cut and finished 18th with a respectable effort.
In February, Woods returned to the links at the Genesis Invitational, an event that he hosted. After shooting a 72-24 through the first two rounds, Woods dropped out due to the flu.
As impressive as his run of cuts made at Augusta National is, there are some heavy hitters in this field. Scottie Scheffler is hot as ever, while the LIV golfers are returning to the PGA for the Masters. There will likely be some strong scores on the leaderboard after two rounds.
Woods doesn’t have much room for error. And, of course, you always have to be concerned with his health and whether his body will hold up. At -140, he has an implied probability of 58.3% to make the cut.
I believe it’s closer to less than 50% that Woods gets to the third round. Therefore, at +110, there is solid value on this Tiger Woods Masters prop bet to miss the cut.

Woods has an average score of 71.88 since his Masters debut in 1995. Over his last six events in Georgia at Augusta National, Woods has shot an average of 71.5, so despite getting older and the injuries, he’s come out of the gates swinging.
Nevertheless, in 2023, Woods shot a 74 for the highest first-round score of his career in the Masters since 2005. Furthermore, he has eclipsed a 72 in three of his previous six Masters.
Even though he squeezed past the cut line, a 74 was a divergence from his typical form in the opening round. In any event, the fact he is playing is astounding.
In 2021, Woods survived a major car accident and was required to have surgery on multiple broken bones in his tibia and fibula. The damage was so severe he nearly lost his leg. As recently as April 2023, Woods was having surgery for post-traumatic arthritis2.

Even prior to the accident, he was dealing with a bad back and knees. In short, it’s a win that he’s even playing golf at the 2024 Masters. Notching a 72 or lower to open this tournament would be nothing short of remarkable.
I suspect that Woods will shoot another 74 or just go over this mark with a 73. He likely doesn’t drastically exceed his effort from last year. Given Woods’ question marks going into the Masters, the Over 72.5 is the play at -130 odds.
First Round Hole 1 – Fairway In Regulation (-225)

Since 2018, Woods has averaged 3.2 birdies in the first round. His last two attempts at Augusta National yielded three birdies in 2022 and two birdies in 2023. In three tournaments last season, Woods averaged three birdies per round.
A year earlier in the 2021-22 season, he notched 2.56 birdies per round at the Masters, PGA Championship, and the Open Championship5. He’ll really have to dig deep to beat that average in the opening round of the Masters 2024.
