Minnesota Vikings vs. LA Rams Odds and Best Bets

The NFL lines for Week 8 open with an exciting Thursday Night Football matchup between the Vikings (5-1) and the Rams (2-5) in Los Angeles. Minnesota lost its first game of the season on Sunday thanks to a last-second field goal from Lions kicker Jake Bates.

Offshore sportsbooks have Minnesota favored to get back in the win column this week. The Vikings (-180) are listed as 3.5-point favorites against the Rams this week. Minnesota has a great defense, and LA’s offense is depleted by injuries.

Cooper Kupp could return this week, but he alone cannot carry the Rams to a win. The Vikings need to win this game to keep pace with the rest of the NFC North. I expect them to get the W and cover the 3.5-point spread against an injury-riddled Rams team.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns Odds and Best Bets

Sunday’s games feature multiple divisional encounters, including an AFC North matchup between the Ravens and the Browns. Baltimore is favored by 10.5 points on the road this week in the latest NFL spreads for Week 8.

The Ravens have won five straight games and looked nearly unstoppable recently. Baltimore has scored at least 28 points in each of its last five games, including two 41-point games in the last three weeks. Cleveland, on the other hand, lost its starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, for the season due to a ruptured Achilles.

Watson’s absence from the lineup could actually improve the Browns’ offense, and Baltimore’s defense has allowed 23 or more points in six of its seven games this year. The Ravens should win, but wagering on a road team to win by 10+ points, especially in a divisional matchup, is not a winning NFL betting strategy.

Tennessee Titans vs. Detroit Lions Odds and Best Bets

Speaking of 10.5-point favorites, the Lions (-550) are massive favorites at home this weekend against the Titans. Tennessee has been one of the worst teams in the league this season. The Titans’ defense has been good, but their offense has struggled to put points on the board.

Detroit has scored 31 or more points in its last three appearances. Conversely, the Titans have only scored more than 17 points once this season. This game has all the trappings of a blowout win for the Lions in Week 8.

As mentioned above, I do not like betting on a team to cover a double-digit spread. However, the Lions are at home, can dominate on both sides of the ball, and the Titans’ offense is terrible. Considering all of that, I recommend taking Detroit to win and cover the spread in Week 8. 

Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans Odds and Best Bets

The Colts (4-3) have struggled through second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson’s growing pains this season. Indianapolis’s offense looked better with Joe Flacco under center, but Richardson is back in the lineup after recovering from his hip injury. The Colts are 5.5-point underdogs on the road against the Texans this week.

Houston lost the Packers on Sunday, thanks to a walk-off field goal from Brandon McManus. The Texans still have a slight lead in the AFC South, but an in-division loss to the Colts would jeopardize Houston’s chances of winning the division.

Indy lost at home to Houston 29-27 in Week 1, and the Colts struggled to move the ball on the ground. Those struggles have reemerged recently, with Jonathan Taylor battling an ankle injury. Taylor could return this week and help the Colts cover the spread, but the Texans should come out of this game with the win.

Green Bay Packers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Odds and Best Bets

Green Bay (5-2) secured a vital win last week over the Texans, keeping the Packers in the hunt for the NFC North crown. They can complete the season sweep against the AFC South with a win against the Jaguars this week. Green Bay is a 4.5-point favorite in the opening NFL Week 8 lines. 

Jacksonville earned its second win of the season on Sunday with its 32-16 win over the Patriots in London. The win kept Doug Pederson from being fired, but the Jaguars’ head coach is still on the hot seat. Green Bay has a great defense, allowing fewer than seven yards per pass attempt.

There is a slight chance the Jaguars build off their offensive performance from last week. However, Jacksonville also has to recover from a two-week road trip to the UK. I think the Packers will win this game in dominant fashion, covering the 4.5-point spread.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Miami Dolphins Odds and Best Bets

The Cardinals won on Monday Night Football against the Chargers in Week 7, thanks to a last-second field goal. Arizona is a +3.5-point underdog in Bovada’s NFL Week 8 projections for their matchup with the Dolphins.

Miami’s offense has been unwatchable since Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion in Week 2. Tua is expected to return to practice this week, though, and could help revive the Dolphins’ playoff hopes. If he is rusty, the Dolphins will be in trouble this week.

There is no guarantee that Tua will play, either. Arizona has plenty of issues of its own, but I like them to cover the 3.5 points on Sunday. If Tua does not return, the Cardinals should win this game outright. 

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots Odds and Best Bets

Miami is not the only AFC East team to struggle this season. The Jets (2-5) and the Patriots (1-6) are the two worst teams in the division this season. New England has lost six straight games, and the Jets have not won since they defeated the Patriots in Week 3.

New York is a 7-point favorite against the Patriots in Foxborough this weekend. The Jets won 24-3 when these teams faced off in MetLife in Week 3. However, the Patriots offense should be better now that Drake Maye is under center instead of Jacoby Brissett.

The Jets have also made changes, trading for Davante Adams and convincing Haasan Reddick to end his holdout. New York will win this game, but an improved Patriots offense will keep the final score within a touchdown. 

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds and Best Bets

Atlanta (4-3) and Tampa Bay (4-3) squared off Week 5 in one of the best TNF games of the season. A walk-off touchdown secured the 36-30 win for the Falcons. Atlanta is a 1.5-point favorite this week in Tampa Bay to round out their season series against the Buccaneers.

The Falcons lost 34-14 to the Seahawks at home in Week 7. Tampa Bay also lost at home, falling 41-41 to the Ravens on MNF. The Buccaneers will be without their two best wide receivers after Mike Evans reaggravated a hamstring injury and Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle.

These two injuries could sink the Buccaneers offense. Tampa Bay’s defense has also been subpar, and their chances of winning the NFC South will fade significantly with a second loss to the Falcons. Atlanta needs a get-right game, and ending the Bucs’ divisional hopes this weekend is a great way to get the Falcons’ season back on track.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cincinnati Bengals Odds and Best Bets

Philadelphia (4-2) and Cincinnati (3-4) have dealt their fair share of challenges this season. The Bengals have won three of their last four games and are listed as -2.5-point favorites in the NFL Week 8 spreads for this matchup against the Eagles.

Cincinnati has to play a complete game this season, and their offense has struggled the last two weeks. Joe Burrow and company scored just 17 and 21 points against the Giants and the Browns, respectively. Philly, on the other hand, dropped 28 on the Giants but only scored 20 against the Browns.

This was almost the Super Bowl matchup a couple of years ago, and it should be one of the better games of week 8. Ultimately, I think the Bengals will pull out a win and cover the 2.5-point spread.

New Orleans Saints vs. LA Chargers Odds and Best Bets

The Saints and the Chargers both lost prime-time matchups in Week 7. They square off this week at SoFi Stadium, and LA is the 7.5-point favorite at home in early NFL betting lines for Week 8.

New Orleans has lost five straight games, and their offense has struggled significantly in the last six quarters. Those struggles will likely continue this week as rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler will start if Derek Carr. The Chargers defense will have a field day against Rattler in his third start.

LA has only allowed 6.7 yards per pass attempt, tied for the 10th-fewest in the league. They have also allowed only three rushing scores and should be able to contain Alvin Kamara. Chris Olave should be back for the Saints, but that will not be enough for New Orleans to cover the spread on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills vs. Seattle Seahawks Odds and Best Bets

Two division leaders will face off when the Bills (5-2) take on the Seahawks (4-3) in Seattle. Buffalo has won back-to-back games, and the Seahawks ended their three-game skid with a win on the road against the Falcons.

The Bills are a 3-point favorite on the road despite having to travel across the county for this matchup. This game will come down to which team can stop the run. Seattle and Buffalo want to run the ball, and neither team has been great at stopping opposing running backs.

Buffalo and Seattle have given up 5.1 and 5 yards per carry, respectively, the fourth and fifth most in the league. In the end, though, the Bills have the better quarterback. I think Josh Allen will lead Buffalo to a road win, but the Seahawks will cover.

Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders Odds and Best Bets

This week’s matchup between the Bears and the Commanders was supposed to be a battle of the first and second-overall picks. It also would have helped decide the true favorite in the Rookie of the Year race. Unfortunately, Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels injured his ribs early in the team’s win over the Panthers and is questionable to play this week.

Journeyman quarterback Marcus Mariota played well in Daniels’s absence, but he also faced a porous Carolina defense. The Panthers have allowed 243 points this season, which is the most of any team in the NFL.

Mariota and company will face a much tougher test against Chicago’s defense, which has only allowed 16.8 PPG, the fourth-lowest. Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offense should also have a field day against a Commanders’ defense that is average at best. Chicago wins and covers the spread on the road this week.

Carolina Panthers vs. Denver Broncos Odds and Best Bets

Speaking of the Panthers, Carolina is an 8.5-point road underdog this weekend against the Denver Broncos. Denver will be well-rest for this game after the team’s win in New Orleans on TNF last week.

The Broncos are among the largest favorites in the NFL Week 8, 2024, betting odds. Denver’s offense has made significant strides in the first two months of the season, scoring 33+ points in two of their last three games. The Broncos can improve to 5-3 with a win this Sunday.

Denver should win this game, but the bigger question is whether they will cover the 8.5-point spread. Carolina is giving Andy Dalton the majority of starter reps, so Bryce Young will have to wait another week to get the QB1 job back. The Broncos defense should harass Dalton all day, helping the team cover the large spread.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Las Vegas Raiders Odds and Best Bets

The Chiefs are also a large favorite in the NFL odds for Week 8, 2024. Kansas City is a 10-point favorite on the road in Las Vegas this week. The Chiefs are the last undefeated team in the NFL and have not lost a game since the Raiders beat them on Christmas last year.

Las Vegas has lost three games in a row and has not scored more than 18 points in a game since Week 3. To make matters worse, Aidan O’Connell fractured his thumb, and Gardner Minshew will be the starting quarterback once again. 

Patrick Mahomes and company do not typically cover large spreads, but this game should be an exception. Kansas City has plenty of motivation to avenge last season’s loss to the Raiders. The Chiefs will win and cover the 10-point spread this weekend.

Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers Odds and Best Bets

Dallas (3-3) and San Francisco (3-4) are both desperate for a win heading into their matchup on Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys are coming off a bye and should be well-rested compared to the 49ers.

San Francisco’s offense is especially beat up, and the 49ers will be without Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) and Brandon Aiyuk (ACL/MCL). Jordan Mason (shoulder) is also injured but has played through it thus far. Despite their injuries, I think the 49ers will win this matchup against Dallas.

The Cowboys are 3-0 on the road, but the 49ers have bullied Dallas in recent years. The Cowboys cannot stop the run, and San Francisco’s offensive line should allow them to control the line of scrimmage. San Fran should win, but I don’t think they will cover the spread.

New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Odds and Best Bets

This week concludes with two of the oldest NFL franchises facing off on Monday Night Football. The Giants (2-5) take on the Steelers (5-2) in what could be Daniel Jones’ last start. Pittsburgh is a 6.5-point favorite in the Week 8, 2024, NFL odds for this MNF matchup.

The Steelers beat the Jets 37-15 on SNF last week in Russell Wilson’s first start of the season. I doubt Wilson’s ability to sustain his success for an extended period, but he should be able to beat a Giants team that has scored a combined 10 points in its last two games.

Pittsburgh’s defense has been the driving force behind the team’s 5-2 start to the season. If the Steelers can generate turnovers and sack Daniel Jones early and often, Pittsburgh will win and cover the spread.
