San Francisco 49ers+550
Philadelphia Eagles+550
Minnesota Vikings+900
Washington Commanders+1000

The Detroit Lions (+190) have taken control of the NFC Championship odds since our last update heading into Week 4. The Lions were +600 at that time, in third place. Now, at +190, they have an implied probability of +34.5% to win the NFC!

The San Francisco 49ers (+550) were favored at that time, but have regressed from their odds of +390 before Week 4. They’ve dealt with a spate of injuries, but things could be turning around soon for the Niners.

Philadelphia (+550) is tied with San Francisco in second, and they were +500 at the end of September. The Eagles were off to a slow start, but are starting to roll. Both teams have an implied probability of 15.4% to win the NFC.

Minnesota (+900), Washington (+1000), Green Bay (+1100), and Atlanta (+1200) are all still in the mix at NFL betting sites. But they’ll have some work to do to catch up to the top three.

NFC Favorites in 2024-25

Let’s delve into the NFC Championship 2024-25 betting odds and analyze the top favorites at online sportsbooks. Oddsmakers believe these teams have the best chance to win the NFC title for the 2024-25 season:

Detroit Lions (+190)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Loss in NFC Championship
    • Key Players: Jared Goff (QB), Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR), Jahmyr Gibbs (RB), Sam LaPorta (TE), Aidan Hutchinson (DE)
    • Total NFC Championships: 0
    • Head Coach: Dan Campbell

The Lions are 7-1 and they’re now second to Kansas City in the Super Bowl 59 odds! Outside of a Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay, Detroit has been excellent on both sides of the ball. Heading into NFL Week 10 action, the Lions are seventh in yards and first in points scored. QB Jared Goff has been on a roll, and moving up the NFL MVP odds!

The two-headed RB monster of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery keeps defenses off-balance, while WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams have been very good. Williams has returned to practice after a two-week suspension, and head coach Dan Campbell says everything is fine with the young receiver. TE Sam LaPorta got off to a slow start, but he’s healthy now and has been playing well.

On the other side of the ball, the Lions lost DE Aiden Hutchinson to a gruesome leg injury in Week 6, but could return if the Lions make it to the Super Bowl! But the defense is still sixth in points allowed, and their 16 takeaways is third in the NFL. Detroit is tied with Buffalo at the top with a +11 turnover differential. Simply put, the Lions don’t beat themselves with turnovers, and they’re the ones forcing mistakes.

Campbell is favored in this season’s NFL Coach of the Year odds, and you could argue he should have won last season. He has the Lions playing confidently, and they can win any type of game. They’ve had a couple blowouts, but the Lions have also won tough road games at Minnesota and Green Bay. The Packers’ win was impressive, considering it was pouring rain.

The Lions are a “dome” team, but they showed they can win in poor conditions, and that’s largely on Campbell. Detroit is very deserving of their favorite status in these NFC championship odds!

Philadelphia Eagles (+550)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Loss in NFC Wild Card Round
    • Key Players: Jalen Hurts (QB), Saquon Barkley (RB), A.J. Brown (WR), DeVonta Smith (WR), Jordan Davis (DT), Jalen Carter (DT)
    • Total NFC Championships: 4 (1981, 2005, 2018, 2023)
    • Head Coach: Nick Sirianni

The Eagles got off to a shaky 2-2 start, and people were calling for head coach Nick Sirianni to be fired. But the Eagles are 4-0 since their Week 5 bye, and in Week 10, they face a Dallas team that’ll be without Dak Prescott and many others. At 6-2, the Eagles are just a half-game behind Washington in the NFC East!

RB Saquon Barkley is second in the NFL with 925 rushing yards, and his backwards hurdle against Jacksonville has been the league’s highlight of the season so far. QB Jalen Hurts has been playing well recently, and he’s always a threat to score, thanks to Philly’s “Tush Push” play. WRs DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown have both battled injuries, but both should be in the lineup against Dallas.

The Eagles’ defense is third in yards allowed, and ninth in points allowed. Philadelphia is -2 in turnover differential, so they’ll have to clean that up. But the Eagles look more like the team that went to the Super Bowl two years ago, than the one that lost five of six to end the regular season and then got smacked by Tampa Bay in the playoffs. If they keep this up, the Eagles’ NFL betting lines to win the conference hold some terrific value!

San Francisco 49ers (+550)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Champions
    • Key Players: Christian McCaffrey (RB), Deebo Samuel (WR), Brock Purdy (QB), Nick Bosa (DE), Fred Warner (LB)
    • Total NFC Championships: 8 (1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1995, 2013, 2020, 2024)
    • Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan

The 4-4 49ers are fortunate to play in the average NFC West as they’re still in the hunt to win the division. After beating Dallas in Week 8, the 49ers have a bye, but will return to action in Week 10 with a home game against Tampa Bay. It also looks like RB Christian McCaffrey will finally suit up this season after dealing with an ailing Achilles all season.

QB Brock Purdy has been very good this season, despite not having McCaffrey, while WRs Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings, and TE George Kittle have also been dealing with injuries. The 49ers also lost WR Brandon Aiyuk for the season with a knee injury in Week 7. But RB Jordan Mason has stepped up, and is fourth in the league in rushing with 685 yards.

The defense has been decent, ranking 10th in yards allowed, and 16th in points allowed. But they’re +4 in turnover differential, and the 49ers are tied for fourth with 15 takeaways. This has been a terrific job by head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff to keep this team in it, in the face of all these injuries.

Best Sleepers for the NFC Title in 2024-25

Your NFL betting card for the NFC Championship should include two or three sleepers who have a chance of upsetting the field!

While the odds for the 2024-25 NFC Championship do not suggest they have the best probability, it’s worth backing these teams to win:

  1. The Vikings won their first five games of the season, but have sincd lost two of their last three heading into Week 10’s trip to Jacksonville. Minnesota is still 6-2 in second in the NFC North, a game behind Detroit, and a half-game ahead of Green Bay.

The Vikings are eighth in the league in points scored, behind the duo of QB Sam Darnold and WR Justin Jefferson, while RB Aaron Jones has added balance on the ground. But the defense has been the story for the Vikings, who are seventh in points allowed and second with 17 takeaways.

If the Vikings can clean up their turnover issues (13 giveaways), they can really challenge Detroit in the division and the conference. Minnesota has a three-game stretch coming up on the road at Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Chicago. They’re all winnable games, but the Vikings can’t give any of these games away.

  2. The Commanders get the edge in these NFC championship odds for one reason: Jayden Daniels. The QB is the runaway favorite for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and his Hail Mary to beat Chicago in Week 8 was another big NFL highlight!

Washington is now 7-2 and are trying to hold off Philadelphia in the NFC East. The two still have yet to play, as the Commanders visit Philadelphia in Week 11 in Thursday Night Football, then host the Eagles in Week 16. Those two games will decide who wins the NFC East!

Washington’s defense can be shaky, but their betting value lies with Daniels and the offense. The Commanders are third in yards and points scored, and they feel they’re never out of it with Daniels under center. Dan Quinn will also get some NFL Coach of the Year votes as the Commanders were 4-13 last season, and haven’t made the playoffs since 2020! But with Daniels and a new outlook, the Commanders are a dangerous underdog in these NFC title odds!

NFC Championship 2024-25 Predictions and Betting Pick

The Lions should be very tough to beat in the playoffs! They have post-season experience now, so this matters, too. The core of this team is coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game, so this well-coached squad will be expected to win this time.

When it comes to Goff, he’s already been to a Super Bowl and two NFC title matchups. It wasn’t too long ago you couldn’t have said this regarding the Lions, but this 2024-25 roster qualifies as having postseason experience.

At 7-1, the Lions are the class of the NFC, and winning games in all kinds of different ways. I am confident in head coach Dan Campbell getting the most out of this team when it matters the most in December and January!

Keep an eye on San Francisco and Philadelphia, though. The 49ers are starting to get healthy, and the Eagles are finding their mojo. Still, in a showdown against either the 49ers or Eagles, the Lions should prevail in a close contest. We’ll get to see one of these matchups in the regular season as the 49ers host the Lions in Week 17 on Monday Night Football.

Detroit doesn’t have as much value as they did in Week 4, but they are a strong wager with their NFC champion odds at +190, so look into adding this wager to your card, too!
